G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

Won't have time to open them til later, but just got the least singles and holy hell if I'd known Hydro Viper's "mask" was a separate head I'd have wanted two so I could have the human face the partial mutation and the red scaled face as a full-on transformation - that breathing apparatus isn't for breathing underwater... that's for when he's on the SURFACE

Cracked open the new crew tonightand man, what a wave just in terms of RANGE.

I've been calling this the Airtight wave because he's a childhood favorite character and was dying for him in Classified and y'know what? He's just perfect. Not flashy. Lots of parts reuse. Just a solid yeoman of a figure. But they kept his receding hairline and got his colors just right and he's got that sneaky little fold-down screen on his vest, I love him. Truly my only nitpick is his helmet's a little tight so it's hard to pop on and off, and I like the head sculpt so much I don't want to hide it. Which is really an "oh no my steak is too juicy" complaint.

Hydro-Viper is CRAZY. Mentioned up thread I want to get a second one so I can use both heads, but the Hydro-Viper has always been a weird mutated diver to me so this is like, EXACTLY what I wanted. Could he have used an alternate set of hands so he could have the webbing on left or right or hold both weapons? Sure yeah. But he mirrors the OG ARAH figure in that regard, so 10/10 no notes.

Overkill is weird. Like okay, if I may: I really like the figure but he doesn't feel like he's part of the same line if that makes any sense? There's just a different hand-feel to him. The colors don't feel coordinated. But he is FUN. My only issue is deciding what combination of hands I want to display him with, cos bro's got options.

Sundown: where the fuck did this guy come from? Because honestly, sometimes there's a great Classified figure and sometimes there's just a great ACTION FIGURE and that's Sundown. stick this dude in any modern line and he's awesome. Gorgeous portrait. the rubber poncho works shockingly well. His gear is perfect. SPURS ON HIS BOOTS. I've never liked "remove hair to wear hat" but both the hair and the hat stay on when you swap them so that mechanic works perfectly - I'm just being picky wanting his hat to rest on his hair. The turquoise highlights, the facial scar, the little tracking device on his wrist. I'm serious, he doesn't need to be Classified, he's just one of the best toys of the year all by himself.

So anyway he's hanging out on my desk with Kurt Schnurr for NO reason, but I'm happy as hell. Hey Hasbro, give us a few weeks breather now, okay? You're killing it but don't blow your load all in one month, you'll sprain something.
 
Got Dire Night-Creeper thanks to Ru! Really appreciate it! Super fun figure. I love both head sculpts and the translucent arms, head, visor, and weapons. Really striking figure!

And I got Overkill!! One of my all-time figures as a kid, and he’s amazing in Classified. He’s huge. Like taller than Legends Iron Man or Captain America. And so many weapons. Can’t believe he’s not deluxe. I bought a second copy immediately. I love that he has a recreation of his old claw/gun hand and the twin .50 cal machine guns in his chest from the original figure!

And Overkill is so much fun! I used to poster gum to keep his mask on, but I immediately bought a second figure because of how cool he is. Felt compelled to match him up against neon Snake-Eyes for some 90s fun.

I really want some BAT v2s for Overkill to command!

I can't believe how nuts they went with making Overkill so much bigger than a regular Joe. It's fantastic. Can't wait to get him.
Based on everything I've heard, I feel like I'm going to end up gluing his mask on, though. His ARAH look is way more important to me than the fantastic face sculpt beneath. I'll feel bad doing it, but the reality is that's how I want to display him anyway.

I guess I'll PO a second while I can (I can) just to glue one. My... Whatever I have ... Won't let me do that and not have a walk back option.

I must reiterate how obnoxious the kunai on Scar's back are.

This would make me so nervous to even have it on display because if it does decide to pop off, or if he falls down, that tiny mask piece is probably just fucking gone. Glue it is.
 
Yeah I do a lot of posing and banging around at my desk. Even just trying to get Scarlett to hold her sword the daggers are just exploding out of her belt.

And Snake Eyes 91s stupid ass holster.

I can't take it.
