G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

I pulled that off and tossed his back scabbard nonsense immediately.

Oh yes. It was only just yesterday when I was putting him with Scarlett for that glorious '90sness that I decided to try it back on. Nope.

I don't even know what way the back piece is supposed to go. It is incapable of sitting flush or even looking correctly centered.

Apropos of nothing, with Airtight arriving yesterday I've come to realize I have two DISTINCT set of favorite Joes, like I've got two personalities to my collection:

One is the bare bones but not very realistic type of characters like the Original 13. The more modern warfare realistic they get the less I like them, but I deeply adore "green army man" guys like Zap or Stalker. Guys who match that vibe - "army man" but not something you'd see on the news, like Beachhead or Flint - also fall into this category. I think the vibe is "watched war movies with grampa but never even saw a commercial for Call of Duty" army guys.

But my other favorite category is absolutely "snipers would love you." Airtight, Sci-Fi, Wetsuit, Mainframe, Scoop, Crazylegs, Lightfoot...Spearhead with his BRIGHT ORANGE CAMO??? Guys who look like they could pull double duty in a sci-fi military toy line. Just too bright, zero camo, could be used to target a bomb from the air type costumes.

I'm a little bummed Clutch 2.0 is just a repaint - I was hoping they'd Breaker him since their first attempt at Breaker felt like a real-life veteran but the retro Breaker looks like a cartoon army man. I was hoping we'd get "guy in short sleeved shirt with a boring helmet" Clutch next.

YES! You describe it perfectly.

And that even vibes for me with that new Duke and even some configurations of the Legacy Special Forces guy.

Y'know, new Duke DOES do that. I actually find New Duke closer to the green army man thing I like than his OG look, though his OG look is so retro and dated that he works for me as well just fine and always has.
Spearhead is ORANGE?
He's like, coffee milk with orange splashes. He's fuckin' hideous and he's a top three favorite character.

It's so funny because, again being colorblind, as a kid I viewed Spearhead as one of the 'normal army man-looking' guys on the team.
But yeah, whatever terrible colors he may be, that's what I want in Classified.

I can't believe how nuts they went with making Overkill so much bigger than a regular Joe. It's fantastic. Can't wait to get him.
Based on everything I've heard, I feel like I'm going to end up gluing his mask on, though. His ARAH look is way more important to me than the fantastic face sculpt beneath. I'll feel bad doing it, but the reality is that's how I want to display him anyway.

Yeah, Overkill is huge and imposing. Feels deluxe to me with the increased size, unique sculpt work that probably can’t be reused, and especially that chest-mounted cannon. And the alternate hands and giant laser cannon.

I used poster gum to keep the faceplate on, so there are non-permanent options. But I still ordered a second figure—he’s just so good. But I am with you—the faceplate-on look makes him Overkill to me. I prefer the full robot look even if the unmasked face looks fantastic, too.

All the Overkill talk had me back at EB yesterday afternoon, in fact. Just to check. Still nothin'. Jerks.
