G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

Definitely loved that Beach-Head as a teen, although I thankfully had the black vest variant as opposed to that “shoot me” vest he has there. Great opportunity to have removable helmet/goggles with a fully classic BH headsculpt underneath.

I don't really want a spring-loaded launcher in this line, but if they released the infamous Dook version with the crotch launcher that would be objectively hilarious and I would buy it.

Finally got around to opening Sci-Fi and the fact that his marbled plastic isn't used for any of the joints is great. His marbled plastic kneepads are just glued onto his regular plastic knees, and the vest is just that, a vest over a green torso. This is just the perfect way to use that kind of plastic. So annoyed with some of my favorite Masterverse figures that have marbled plastic ankle joints/feet and they like to shelf dive during the summer.

I'm going to have to agree that he doesn't really look like the original Sci-Fi, but if they do him in a more lime-green with a classic visor, I might be tempted.

Side-note but the other day I was messing with Transformers Legacy United Gears and he has the exact right shade of red plastic for Slice! I got nostalgia just looking at it, and now I extra-need a Retro NF Slice with the stars and crimson (like actual crimson, not crimson guard) red.

As much as I love my GI Joe, I wouldn't know anything was out of place in terms of Mainframes's height. I don't recall anything from comics, cartoons, or file cards. My awareness of scale isn't there with Joes like it would be with Marvel, DC, or wrestling, for example.

He's always been the same height as everyone else, and the cartoon kinda drew him as a bit of a brick shithouse, but I know plenty of Marines who are under 5'9 and that's what he looks like in this iteration, so it doesn't bug me much. I reckon he stands out a bit because we've really only had two shorter Joes, to the point that people were worried about Leatherneck being tiny when he's a couple of mm shorter than the rest of the line.

I'm not a huge stickler for characters' heights. I don't have The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe memorized from cover to cover, couldn't tell you if Batman or Superman is supposed to be taller. All I know is that I have a ton of Classifieds, all of which are more or less the same heigh (with some bruiser exceptions) and then there's.........Mainframe.

Just Mainframe and Tunnel Rat running around underfoot like toddlers. (The line could use more height variation, really.)

Although as a 5ft8 guy myself I kinda would love few more not huge team members, if they fit the character appropriately.
