G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #151 - Red Ninja (Post-RAH)

Fucksake, I just tried to swap the head on my spare Grunt figure and snapped the motherfucking neck peg just nudging it with my thumb.
Yep. Most if not all Grunts have their neck peg glued in and it causes all kinds of problems. There was a similar but much worse problem with the Python Tele-Vipers: I had to replace every single neck peg of the five I got, they all immediately snapped in two with very little movement.

The head swap was so easy. I was like jut adjusting the tilt of his neck and the fucking thing just snapped off like he was an overpriced import. I do have spare necks an pegs from a cop and a greenshirt so I'm gonna try to boil and pop (did you have any luck with that?) later tonight when I won't be in Steph's way in the kitchen to do some hot water chemistry.

Yes! Tons of luck with that, indeed I do it all the time. I’ve even done Grunt peg swaps by heating the peg up and then digging it out of the glue with tweezers and a dental tool. A lot of headswaps require the whole peg to be swapped so the head doesn’t sit too high or low on the new body, and in fact swapping some pegs can fix the short-neck of guys like Leatherneck, and with the right ball sizes can facilitate swaps between Classified and other Hasbro lines.

I’m still looking for the right ball/peg combo to make the lady CG body/neck look natural with that scary Sharon Carter bun-head.

Excellent. I think it might be easier with the tools I have on hand to swap the whole neck (goddamn, Grunt's a 50 dollar figure these days?) but hey, maybe I can make the most out of a busted figure somehow. What a wild defect in a figure. Wonder if someone along the line was just like "this peg doesn't look like it should move, let's glue ALL of them."

Yeah. But Kamakura was created by DD, and 'Snake Eyes Kamakura' was an IDW storyline. Someone literally homebrewed him into Snake Eyes, because they were absolutely bereft of real creativity and also because IDW is just as scabby as Marvel and wanted desperately to have the SHOCK of killing Snake Eyes, but was also fucking terrified to have a Joe comic without Snake Eyes, so decided to have it both ways. I know everything is marketing and capitalism these days, but this character (or this version of the character) reeks of it SO badly.

So if you're going to change Kamakura to be 'more Snake Eyes-y' - you can do it in a way that is still true to Kamakura as a unique character instead of intentionally stripping that away from him so he can be your new Snake Eyes, complete with Snake Eyes costume, Snake Eyes mask, Snake Eyes sword, and Snake Eyes behaviour.
Again, while under IDW, the death of Snake Eyes, Throwdown stepping in, and Dawn having his memories was all Hama in the A Real American Hero title. Sean was never Kamakura in Hama's continuity.

I love the articulation we get with the double-function neck ... sleeve.. I guess? But I would not want to try swapping it, to be honest. Modern action figure construction is one of the reasons I mostly stopped customizing.
It took me so much effort to get the head out of the neck on the cop and greenshirt because the barbell stayed in the head when I wanted it to stay in the neck. The head-attached-to-neck swapping on the cop and soldier was super easy, but separating the other parts needed so much heat.

Oh for sure. But I don't care and it still sucked hard and all of my complaints about it are still 100% unassailable. Fight me on the moon!

I was sorta like "hey we already got a red ninja" but honestly, a classic, pure 80s, no bullshit red ninja? put me down for a couple.

Heh, you're right... we got the Red Fang Ninja, sorta the 'James Franco in Spider-Man 3' of ninjas from the Rise of Cobra line, and also the video game concept art for a Red Ninja about a month ago. There will be at least two more versions of Red Ninjas eventually.
