Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I'll probably get most of these. Big fan of random shirtless guys.

Edit to say I don't think the pants work with my idea of a gladiator's garb, but great parts for customizing.
 
Man, I know I initially shit on this idea, but gotta hand it to them… I’m probably going all in this set, it’s a great collection of random parts.

As others have said, doesn’t really read as “Gladiators” since they’re all wearing pants, and getting matching bare thighs and maybe bare feet would have been the appeal of a wacky flesh tone wave…. These are more like half assed pirates or something.

I like greybeard human the most, he gives me an Aquaman/New Adventures He-Man vibe, probably gonna dig a trident out of my parts bin (because why would a gladiator come with a trident?!) and put him with the other homage characters as brand new character “Nep-Tun” or some shit.

The red “we tries to make a teefling” and green demon are also very good, I think I have some bare green orc thighs and some hooves so I can make them more demony.

I bought a Kain (from Legacy of Kain) head sculpt off eBay I was going to put on the Evil Red Armory Knight, but the white body here is so much better a base! I just need to buy him a nice cape and he’s all set!

I wasn’t initially impressed with skull face paint beardo… until they did the Bardric head swap. Bardric has the face sculpt of a king and his original body doesn’t do him justice (I put Magnus’ head on it and it looks like a simple blacksmith, not a heroic warrior retired to blacksmithing waiting John Wick style for the mission to reawaken his inner badass, nope, just a guy who makes horseshoes, and he’s one of my favorite kitbashes because it’s so simple like that…) the bare chest with the big paldrons make him look properly regal… I’ll need to find him a cape and some better pants though.

The dark grey body is my least favorite… I hate the Demistross (I know he was some red guy before that, but I forgot his name!) head on the standard body, it’s brute scale whether intended to be or not (I have the bone color Demistross head on the purple cyborg alien from Cosmics wave 2, sort of a Cyber Demon dealy, and it looks fantastic) but I’ve been working on an “Armored Santa” kitbash using the Red Leather Armory Knight, the baggy sleeves and paints from the red Cosmic Legion space armor, those glossy black shin guards and boots would look really nice on him!

So overall a nice collection of parts, although I am still kinda pissed the Horsemen keep doing the “can’t get to this tiny ass con all the way across the country?! Well then you’re missing out on ALL THIS!!!!” shit. (Gotta figure out how I’m going to get that red spartan helmet and gold marley skull…)

Any chance you could post a pic of that Kain head? That series is WAY up there for me & I'd love to see what that looks like in hand.

It was done by sculptor Jason_Demon_3d_Studio on Instagram, in addition to Kain’s head he made a 3D model for the Soul Reaver itself as well as a Razel Kit of his head and scarf (would probably go good with a Red Death body) as well as a set of feet and hands that look like their hoofy clawed digits

His business seems to be making STL file packs for print farms to sell on eBay, which means there’s other options on who to buy from, some will even resize for you (Marvel Legends, Mythic, 1/6, 1/18, etc) like this guy https://www.ebay.com/itm/196887616222 whom I’ve also bought prints from and they’re also good.

If you want to see a photo of the actual head I bought, give me a day to cobble together a more Kain like body for it. Right now it’s just sitting unpainted in my “to do” pile and that’s not doing it any favors…

That's great, thank you! After reading your post, I went searching on eBay. I found that head from another seller, but it was only a digital render, so a pic of the physical product is what I was hoping to see. That said, once you cobble something together, I'd love to see it!

So this is the head on the Vampire Dwarf’s torso and blood knight (all-star)’s armor… it should be pretty close to what the Builder Figure will look like… now Kain’s hair is HUGE it doesn’t really like any of the paldrons, which is fine if you’re making Kain proper he doesn’t wear them, but since I was wanted to make a cool vampire out it, little annoying I’ll have to alter either the head cast or the paldrons to use both…

anyway, here’s how it fits without the Paldrons!

I keep thinking I want to scale back on this line, but I caved and got a couple of, if not "grail" figures, figures I've been eyeing for a long, long time. Found a good deal on Urzokk, who has been on my wishlist forEVER, I'm just an orc guy when it comes to this stuff and he was the only 1.0 orc I never got and really wanted. Nothing surprising about the figure at all, a 1.0 body is a 1.0 body, but he's exactly what I wanted and the seller took pristine care of him so it's great to have him.

Also got the Aetherblade army builder figure to take care of my one serious remaining goal for my orcs, which was to put un-helmeted heads on my three generic orcs. It always, always bugged me they were just three bruisers with the same helmet on, I wanted them to be actual real people with individual looks, and (iwth the spare head from Urzokk, the unpainted one, the mean green wrecking crew finally have their individual looks. Plus the actual Aetherblade orc to add to the warband. I think I'm solidly happy with my orc collection for a while after this. For some silly reason I don't mind the same unhelmeted head as long as it's got a unique aspect (brighter green on the Aetherblade orc, face paint on one of the bearded faces, etc) jut so they all have a different profile. (The seller forgot one last head from teh set but are sending it out--honest mistake and got right back to me so no harm no foul.)

The orcs and goblins have always been my favorite, but the gobs have always had more unique looks. Also, weirdly, in my head canon, the longer I collect these things the creepier and more malignant the goblins get in my brain (I blame reading Christopher Beuhlmann's Blacktongue Thief for that, he has the creepiest goblin depiction I've ever read) but the orcs just get more misunderstood and noble the longer I collect them.

Literally my favorite fantasy books in a decade. They’re moody and creepy and legit scary. He makes goblins and giants and hags absolutely terrifying in ways I’ve never seen it done before. His “between two fires” is also excellent, though it’s more historical fantasy.
 
I wonder why they felt the need to push Jersey Devil to August to reveal Otho tomorrow, instead of just revealing Otho in August and selling the Jersey Devil once it’s in stock. (Even if it turns out Otho is in an stock sale item ready to go after the livestream, why we it decided he should be sold in stock ready to go and Jersey Devil is the first pre-order based FO)

It doesn’t matter, Otho is cool, I have the 1.0 but the age of the 1.0’s is showing (glad to have Gideon and Attila 2.0 with Scapular and Attlus on the way) and a much needed upgrade to one of the best original Kickstarter figures is very very welcome

Monkey King was similarly a short preorder with the figure on the water when he went up for preorder, so JD isn’t actually the first time they’ve done this.

I suspect that we’ll be seeing the next Graveyard offering shortly, perhaps as early as next week the way they’ve been going lately. Could be in stock or another made to order situation like the graveyard skeletons were. I’m personally hoping it’s zombies this year.
 
Oh duh! I totally forgot about the Graveyard offerings! Now *that* makes sense to move Jersey Devil for!
