Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Speaking of popping and swapping - I got a really good deal on that Aetherblade orc army builder, which I really only wanted because it comes with multiple unmasked orc faces and I have some old 1.0 orcs I want to put actual faces on instead of those repetitive half-helms the early orcs all had. Frivolous purchase but with one figure I can actually swap the heads on every green male orc I have to something I like better.

Meanwhile I found a ding on the orc queen's face I never noticed before and I'm wondering - was this there when I got here, did I drop her and some spiky shoulder pauldron hit hit her in the face... It actually looks like a real scar so I don't hate it, but I'm always annoyed when one of these figures gets even a little bit of cosmetic damage.

One way to make Armory figures more appealing (and this goes against my complaint of them already having a higher than normal price) is to make them deluxe builders. A full figure and then a bunch of extra parts. 2-3 heads. 2 torsos. 2 pairs of shoulder armor. Etc. Although frankly, I’d rather just have full figures. The builder sets always leave you with extra parts no matter how you build out figures.

The Armory Knights are basically my ideal for this line. I wanted those colors—deep red, green, purple, and gunmetal. Definitely agree that more helmets would have been ideal for the price point, which was high.

The Legions Con Warrior/Revenant looks very cool. I wish they’d just release both versions as standard figures. I would buy multiples of each. I want those con exclusive extras, so that is worrying me.

I’d buy any knight. More silver tones, black on the Valiant Knight body, white, more gunmetal, and blue would all be cool.

I’d like more surcoats in different basic colors—red, yellow, green, blue, mixed patches of color, etc.

Yeah, I like a good kit on a chartacter but I've really only ever used the extra stuff beyond heads and hands once - the two pack where you could make a half-orc or dwarf monk, and I absolutely wanted both. I keep looking at the spare parts I do have and wondering if I can Frankenstein an extra figure out of them, but I don't think I have the right hips and I definitely don't have a torso that'll look good with the legs and arms I own.

A flat black would be cool, since the previous black knight was very shiny. While we got a couple of green knights, a more jade one would be nice. I wouldn’t mind seeing a nice pearlescent knight, like Sir Ignatius, would be really cool. Loved the look of his armor but they really haven’t done it again. Although I think Gadriel was close.

Exactly. I would love all of that. Flat black armor, pearly white like Sir Ignatius again on a Valiant Knight body, and jade armor would all be really nice.

Love your procreate edited shots!

Guess these are the built Armory figures which will be available after the show.

Ok. So not so much gladiator stuff. As random shirtless guys. I like the pale, green, and red bodies. And the ebony one could be useful as well.

Okay, I do like a couple of those, and the one thing I really look for in this line is unhelmeted heads. I like the greybeard, I've always had a soft spot for their vampiric/chalk-white figures, and the demons have a bit of appeal, too. I could see picking up two or three of these but not the whole line.

These all look cool. I like the armored looks the most. The vampire orc in red armor is my favorite.

I've been cobbling together various gladiator related Mythic Legions parts. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be leaning into Halloween or what but these don't give you much to work with for actual gladiators. Pants and buccaneer boots rather than sandals? A gladius or a trident & net maybe? Not one of these comes with a weapon or a lower body that would benefit someone trying to make a Roman gladiator. Great for those who want them but this seems more like potpourri from Four Horsemen than anything I could utilize to make a proper Mythic Legions gladiator. Granted there are those who would suggest the XES figures (or whatever they're called) but I prefer the proportions of Mythic Legions since I collect those. Personally I don't mind it entirely, as it's more money saved for other stuff, but I do wish it was more historically accurate unless this is supposed to be solely some sort of Mythic Legions-based fantasy coliseum.

Although I thought I wouldn't have much interest here, I'm also likely in for the greybearded dude. I've been looking for unhelmeted heads for my knights, and the belt and trouser/boot combo are in the exact colour that I need for a custom that I've been wanting to try for ages (I've just been waiting for the right colour to show up as I really don't like the idea of painting ankle joints).

It's true that they're a bit less gladiator themed than expected. They have an in universe colosseum type area that these are likely connected to, but a big gladiator wave might have made more sense when the parts for the Pride of Leandorr (Roman Centurion) figure become available.

I got a couple of the ML Leandorr Centurions specifically because of the unmasked heads, and the fact that they weren't bearded like so many others. One of which is going on that ML blue StarCraft looking space marine (who comes with a chainsaw for some reason rather than a heavy duty gun, I guess they're supposed to be miners?) as soon as I get the centurions in hand.

Funny enough, the first Norse-themed wave with the brown bear has that He-Man / bearded barbarian who comes with a gladiator helmet and a gladius for some reason. The accessory pack comes with another gladius and some torches, which I wanted to add as well. So I'm getting more new gladiator-accurate accessories and bodies from the Norse-themed wave. I didn't mind buying specific Mythic Legions for parts when they were less expensive, but that newest werewolf, cool as it is, made me step back a lot even though Legions is my "if there's a cool one I'll buy it" IP. It would be nice if they included a proper trident & pommel shield, or a net so we could make a decent retiarius gladiator at some point. So far we keep getting the secutor and murmillo helmets over and over again, and I don't really view the spartan helmet they give us as signifying "gladiator" per se.

This is great. I feel no need to get any of these. The only thing that tempts me a little is the Golden rat you can get, but since I'm not going to legionscon, that wouldn't be with any of the bodies anyway.
