Figura Obscura

Popped open the Jersey Devil and he really looks better in hand. The proportions feel better and there really is a palpable horror to him.

I wish 4H, and honestly, pretty much EVERYONE, would make better, more stable wing pegs. I know it's because they want them to be more modular but I always wish every pair of 4H wings had pegs that were twice the depth that they are to provide more stability. I hate to say it but I'd kill for the secure attachment/stability of a Hasbro wing peg on the Devil (and the Mythic Legions angels and demons, too).

Same with the tail - that ball joint really never wants to stay put. I just finished fighting with the same design for Monkey King setting him up in my office last week - really needs a deeper peg. (Giggity)

Stumpy wing pegs aside he's a very dynamic figure though. Really curious how they reuse some of these parts.

EDIT: Also, my gawd, they still need an editor for their print materials. "Lochness" Monster and "monikor" in the insert booklet in the same paragraph.

I got my Devil in today, visually this is an amazing figure. I looove the colors of the wing membrane. Nice wooden browns and oranges in there. Beautiful. This bastard looks awesome all over. My only complaint is some looseness in the hip joints. Wish those were ball pegs, or tighter. He's going to need the stand anyway, with those wings. I'm real glad I bought him.

I also got my Devil yesterday, but was too sleepy after a long day of work to really do much with him. I know a lot of folks complained about the size of his head in the initial photos, but he feel reasonably proportioned in hand.

I opened both Ganesha and Jersey Devil yesterday.

Ganesha is gorgeous. Beautiful sculpt, fun accessories, colorful soft goods. Will look great with the Egyptian gods and the Monkey King.

Jersey Devil is great. Articulation is fluid, sculpt is appropriately creepy, accessories are minimal. Wings were tough to plug in, tail tends to fall out. Wish the stand was a sculpted base or something more interesting to look at.

Got my devil, and while I like him, I might be done with 4horsemen figures that have tails. They're such a huge pain in the ass.
Holy crap, THIS. Even the cat tails that have a bit more plastic to latch onto the body are ridiculously unreliable. This overlay they use with the Devil that is similar to Monkey King and the snake warrior in Legions never wants to stay in place.

But agree with everyone else who has said the head is far better proportioned in person than in the promo images. It works better than I expected.

Same here, kinda. But I have to assume they'll probably release it again in the retailer exclusive re-release. Might be a different color, but sometimes they look even cooler!
Being as how I bought the first release, the retailer exclusive is now 100% guaranteed to look cooler. Happens to me every time. You're welcome everyone!

Yeah, they'll release it in a different color. I'm thinking some reddish. And they'll be bringing the Jersey Devil to any conventions they attend. And potentially having an in-stock of any leftovers they have. So there will certainly be another chance or three of getting a Jersey Devil down the road.

Mine arrived today too. I wasn't blown away by him but FOMO'd and got him. I wasn't even eagerly anticipating a shipping notice on this guy but now in hand I'm so glad I went ahead and pulled the trigger.
