DC Studios Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

Can someone explain that to a Marvel head? Does MMH just really like Oreos?
If you read any DC comics, you should give the DeMatteis/Giffen (and preferably Maguire) Justice League/Justice League International a try. So many memorable moments, terrific character interactions and lots of laughs. Batman and Guy incorporate all three. IYKYK.

I'm not opposed. I've read almost all of the good Batman and the best Superman/Wonder Woman stuff. Also Morrison's JLA and Animal Man, a ton of Constantine, and Moore's Swamp Thing. I suspect a good Justice League run could tickle my fancy in ways the Avengers never did.

100 percent truth.

JLI came out during the "grim and gritty" era of Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns and Miracleman. I loved those comics, but man were they depressing. JLI was a breath of fresh air. Lighthearted and fun. I highly recommend it.

I third that, the Giffen & DeMatteis JL is AWESOME. It's ridiculous, and you aren't going to get the classic heroes banding together. It's Batman, Martian Manhunter, and a bunch of goofballs, jerks, and idiots Batman has to steer and keep in line. But it's SUCH a great run. And like @akajomiha said, the Maguire stuff is just beautiful. His facial expressions are still incredible to me.

I'm not a Shazam fan, but I do like Doctor Fate, MMH, and a Green Lantern (generally).

I'm indifferent to Blue Beetle and Mister Miracle. I have no clue who anyone else on that cover is. Assuming the blonde isn't Black Canary.

Ha! She IS Black Canady.

The other lady is Dr. Light, but she was barely in the team. Dr. Fate left fairly early too. Oberon is the grey-haired balding guy, he comes with Mr. Miracle and isn't an actual in-the-field member. Mr. Miracle and Blue Beetle, in the early issues anyway, are probably the funniest. I haven't read much of Shazam/Captain Marvel, but loved his characterization there. WAY more than the movie, but there's a touch of that innocent-kid-in-a-super-powered body I feel the movies emulated from the comics.

And of course Guy Gardner is... a colossal douchebag, but enjoyably so. His ongoing issues with Batman are some of the best parts of the early run.

I'm going to have to rewatch some of Peacemaker Season One because I don't remember how it ended.

Honestly, not a bad decision. I've been cramming King of the Hill in anticipation of that new season because I never saw all of the original run. Maybe I just go back to Peacemaker after that. It was only 10 episodes, I think?
