Obviously we're going to for sure see Superman, The Sandman Season 2 and Peacemaker Season 2. And hopefully they're big hits, especially Superman. If they are, we'll see Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in theaters. If Superman under performs, we'll probably see Supergirl go direct to Max. If Superman bombs badly, Supergirl may go the way of the ill-fated Batgirl movie and get deleted. And the Lanterns show may never see the light of day. Bye bye DC shared universe.

It goes without saying that I hope Superman soars and we get to see The Brave and the Bold, Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, Clayface, Wonder Woman and whatever else they want to produce. But only time will tell. It's going to be an interesting month of July.

These Superman trailers have been such a rollercoaster for me. Every time they release a new one, I flip on whether or not I want to see it.

I'm really turned off by this trailer's showcase of wonky looking action effects. Like, they're trying to sell it as Superman has a GoPro attached to him that's causing fisheye distortion and getting hit by loose teeth. It's so weird.

As someone who's never really been into Superman, I'd say these odd action effects are actually making me a little more interested. Anything to help him stand out and be more interesting. I think Superman could only benefit from Gunn's flashy style, personally, at least after Snyder made him so dull and drab (though he too employed some shaky cam and other special effects for Supes). I'd have to imagine that seeing a superpowered alien like Superman would look a little odd to the average person, so I guess it makes sense. I think it's kinda cool that it almost gives the impression that the camera is struggling to keep up with him. That's been a bit of a trend with superhero movies for a bit- heroes and their powers effecting the camera somehow, like Johnny's flare in the F4 trailer.

I've been reading a lot of folks saying lately that Superman is supposed to have a bit of a sense of humor. Now, I can't say one way or the other because, again, I've never been a Superman fan, and most of the versions I'm familiar with- Cavill, animated JL, etc.- have all portrayed him as rather solemn and stoic. Doesn't feel like we've had a lighter Superman since Reeves. I don't know if I need him being a wisecracking jokester, especially if they plan on introducing Flash eventually, but a little wry, boyish humor, kinda like Captain America, would be welcome. I know that being a figurehead for America, Supes and Cap both sort of change with the times, but also acting as a bit of a beacon of optimism in dark times would be nice too

Not my exact take on him, but definitely a more smiley, joyful Superman. Not someone that's prone to cracking jokes, but someone who will smile when he hears one. You know, I guess that is a sense of humor, so yeah.

In fact, I found Henry Cavill to be a perfect Superman. As long as he's not on the set playing Superman. His interviews and public interactions I've seen are the exact level of confidence, friendliness and joy I want to see in Superman, but then he got directed into oblivion and just came out dour.

There's definitely something to be said about grounding your cameras. Giving the audience the feel of having a vantage point, even if you can't even really put your finger on that feeling, can really help sell a fantastical event happening. For someone like Superman, there's something about him always being perfectly in frame no matter how fast or how much he changes direction just feels subconsciously fake. Maybe not even enough to realize, but it's there.

Adding lens flair, *maybe* having water briefly run off the lens, little artefacts like that can subtly up the realism too, but it's too easy to go too far. Blood spattering the lens in a gunfight in Deadpool is appropriate for that 4th wall breaking franchise, but probably nowhere else. Having a tooth hit the glass is too much for me. I'm hoping it's in-universe and, like, we're watching through one of Mr. Terrific's T-spheres or something. Personal taste, obviously, but this trailer leaned hard toward camera artefacts in ways that don't appeal to me.

Totally! I don't begrudge anyone for liking/disliking certain takes. Everyone looks for something different in their superhero rep. Lord knows I've been picky with how Batman is portrayed. If nothing else, I think it's good that these characters are kept fresh and different things are tried with them. Even if Gunn's take isn't a homerun, maybe it'll at least inspire someone to tweak the formula a bit and fine-tune it into something that pleases most fans. Say what you want about the Aquaman movies (at least the first one- I never saw the second one), it at least had a pretty unique (if not odd) look and style that helped set it apart from the other DC movies.

I for one am relieved that Superman seems to have some lightness and humor to him (as long as it’s not too much and as long as it doesn’t degenerate into unfunny MCU-style “quip” annoyingness). Let’s be real: Superman and Batman are gonna meet eventually, and if they are both dark brooders you get . . . well, I liked that movie, but we don’t need a retread of that.

Also I am just utterly charmed by Krypto and the whole relationship there. Adorable, humanizing, and fun.

I thought the "eyes up here" line was perfect tone.
Me too. I just wish it wasn't followed by him immediately flying away. I'm sure it'll make sense in context (leading whoever away from civilians), but on its own it feels like a hilarious "oh shit, he looked up here."

Like I said, they keep changing my mind with each trailer. I love stuff like that line and shielding the little girl's head.
