Crisis Mode: GI Joe Classified collection at capacity! What do you do?

I have six shelves dedicated to the best retail toy line out there today. Six full shelves. That's more retail space than I allot to any of the many toy lines I collect. I have 76 figures. I won't be able to accommodate four, five, six more Classified figures. I know "at capacity" varies for all of us (I don't know what you all who have HISS tanks, Dragonflies, VAMPS, or Singers do), what do you do? How do you trim it?

Normally when I go through toy lines to trim down I start with the figures that I consider to be sub par or low-effort. Problem here is, I don't think there are any low-effort Classified figures.

Next I might look at trimming down figures I have more than one version of. Problem here is, I have two Cobra Commanders, two Snake Eyes, two Dukes......that's it.

I generally try to not buy characters I don't have a connection to in the first place, but occasionally one might slip buy. The Classified figures I buy, by and large, are featured prominently in the Sunbow Cartoon or the original Marvel comics run, and I have a pretty big connection to both of those. Helix is an exception here, she's "new", but I like her and getting rid of here isn't even going to be a drop in the bucket of trimming.

Sometimes I try to whittle large collections down to sets. When I decimated my Black Series collection I kept a set of ESB characters.....main characters.....and that worked out well for me. I appreciate what I kept. For Cobra, if you held a gun to my head I would keep retro CC, Destro, Baroness, Zartan and Storm Shadow. I don't know where my cut off would be for the Joe team. The Dreadnoks are nice in this situation because they are a finite set of great figures AND these guys could be street thugs in other toy line displays.

I don't know, I'm not ready to do any major cutting yet. I'm on the verge of doing this for Marvel and two toy lines would be too much. For now I guess I won't be hasty and box some of them.

I have 260 GI Joe figures and vehicles. It was a real struggle to squeeze in Night Force Beach Head and Quick Kick today and I haven't even tried to put in Crystal Ball and his spectral army. GI Joe is already my most crowded shelf section and the Rattler is coming soon.

I can't see myself slowing down or phasing any of it out so my next option is to cut down the Marvel Legends collection which is next to it and expand over. There are a lot of modern Marvel figures I really have no attachment to and could get rid of or box up easily enough. It may be time to start that project.

two Dukes
I already found one figure you can get rid of!
But seriously, at this point I would think a lot of us have this problem. And I compounded it by having two viper sets, and several troopers/officers and the Valkyries. I think the only character I have two of right now is Storm Shadow, but that'll change if they do hooded CC and Snake Eyes V3. But yeah, I am not running out of room yet but if they do all the figures on my wishlist, I will be done. Along the way though, there's gonna be more Ghost Vipers I didn't expect but got a have. Classified may be the first line I've ever collected where I have some out away and rotate who is displayed every few months.

Flip ones I don't really care about, is my MO. And I mean really care. Did you have. Did you want. Do you see yourself in. Did you idolize. Who really, really is important to you.

But also rotate your shelves and what's out.

That solution is less permanent but can inform the first.

100% only display one of each character (as long as you don't fall into the trappings that I have, such as calling Marauders Spirt "Dart" so you can display them both, and then putting a Black Series Cobb Vanth head on Wave 1 Duke with Cobra Island Beach Head's vest as "Joe Colton," and then even keep your Marvel Legends comic Shang Chi that was standing in for Quick Kick next to QK as an original character named Jake "Rapid Fire" Lo as an homage to Brandon Lee, and then...).

And then like Chooch said, more shelves. 😘

It seems to me that Classified is your #1 line. I'd start by trimming from other lines you don't care about as deeply.
Sounds like the Joes might be taking over a new shelf. :p
That's where I was several months ago. Sold some Star wars and quite a bit of marvel. Now I can't go any lower on either without just throwing in the towel completely and selling everything I have
