Boss Fight Studios 1/12 and EPIC HACKS

Sorry, guys. I didn't mean to be cryptic. I just thought this was old news since it goes way back to before Fwoosh's previous implosion.

The super short version is that the current owner of BFS - Andrew Franks - became THE owner by coming into some money independently and using some loophole in the contract between the partners to forcibly buy out Catrina and Erik and then fired them. While simultaneously telling them he would never do that and slowly gathering up information on the lines they were working on, etc etc.
Just.. incredibly scummy behaviour that he has, of course, blatantly refused to comment on publicly (probably due to ongoing litigation and the fact that his position is indefensible to any person that isn't a piece of trash). For all of his smiling and happy toy guy stuff on vidcasts with Veebs - legitimately just a bad person that doesn't deserve your money.

Edit to also point out just how fucking shitty it is to buy out and fire the people working on BFS's most successful and popular lines while simultaneously being the guy cratering the company's finances chasing licenses that will sell all of 15 figures, like Sam & Max.

Yeah, spill the beans! Premium DnA seems pretty much DoA so I need some new toy gossip in my life.
Not DOA; they are working on a few cool things right now. Some things outside of their control with license holders took place, so there has been a little restructuring, and you should see some things soon enough. 😀

Thanks for the rundown, KD. I have a very narrow window into other toy lines - basically just whatever I read here/at the old Fwoosh - and I still missed even that excitement. Sounds like real crummy behavior.

It's hard not to be skeptical about these guys given the history. They'll have to provide a lot more transparency on their situation to have even a hope of rebuilding trust.

Yeah, I was unaware as well. I'm not really plugged into the behind the scenes aspect of the industry. Sonja might be my first and last BF fig.

Is that why Bobby Vala has nothing but bad things to say about Boss Fight? I never heard his reasoning. He can be prickly so I thought it was some type of grudge with a former coworker or something. @Damien and Bobby Vala are on the same page, humph.

No. When it comes to Bobby, it's something even dumber.

Erik posted on his own personal Facebook page something about being excited that a "real" Sgt. Slaughter figure was coming out when Mattel released one as an SDCC exclusive. This was around the same time Bobby put out his "Sgt. Slammer" figure, or whatever he called it.

...that's it.

That post got back to Bobby and since then, he's held a grudge against Boss Fight and Erik. Said that Erik was trying to quote "ruin his business". Even threatened to physically assault Erik if he saw him at a show.

Again, to reiterate, Erik posted that to his private, PERSONAL Facebook page.

I'm 100% serious. Bobby is a loon.

Is it prerequisite to lack conflict management skills if you’re trying to run a small action figure studio? I would expect better from “our kind”. But I guess with guys like Brian Flynn and the dude who ran Shocker toys, delusion seems to be common.
Bobby is a special case study, if ever there was one. The people I know in the industry who know him all say the same stuff about him: that he doesn't know what he's talking about and that he's full of it. That his little videos he puts out discussing the industry are so peppered with misinformation that it's laughable.

But besides that, he's just an angry guy, bitter, unable to resist torpedoing himself. Leaving handwritten letters in figure deliveries, talking crap to customers who dared criticize him online. True story. His appearances on podcasts known for trolling companies doesn't help things, either.

The dude just can't stay out of his own way.

Hm.

Not sure who that RNL fella is, but I like the cut of his jib.

And yeah, shocker that BFS would turn the comments off. LOTS of people calling them out.
