You’re all right, kid. I like ya.
  2. AceofKnaves

    ML Monsters & Supernatural

They are *crazy* not to run harder with Marvel Monsters / Supernatural stuff. DC absolutely cannot compete with them in the “classic monster” OR “giant monster” categories, Marvel can just run wild. Halloween/fall is a perfect time for yearly monster/spooky Marvel Legends offerings. They don’t...

I’m grateful to GotG for raising Groot’s profile, but bummed that it wound up en-cute-ifying him (FUCK YOU BABY GROOT AND VERY MUCH FUCK YOU TEEN GROOT) and making it unlikely to get old-school Groot merchandise. I still treasure the comic-style GotG Groot we got back in the day.

    ML Secret Wars

I believe the Mattel explanation on that back in the day was that they could selectively use in-house IP sculpts with outside-IP lines, but not the other way around. They could make Zoar/Screech into Beast Boy’s eagle form, but they couldn’t use Deathstroke’s sword for Tri-Klops, if that tracks.

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

That would be a foolish, self-defeating thing for him to do. And I wouldn’t put it past him.

    ML Secret Wars

Mattel used to use some in-house (MotU) molds for DCUC. Not sure Hasbro can/will do the same.

    G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #232 - Heavy Metal (RAH)

Pathfinder is cool as hell. Definitely would buy.

    Mattel DC Figures

I think another factor is that those old style guide looks are easily the longest-running and most-recognizable versions of those characters in merchandising. They’ve never been able to be “replaced” with another set of broad “default” looks for the DC Universe. Those style guide looks/designs...

    This. This this this.

    G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #232 - Heavy Metal (RAH)

Oh yes, I need this nutso Dial-Tone.
  11. AceofKnaves

    Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Y’all: Chronicles Trap-Jaw is *outrageous*. Just fucking fantastic. . . . although I am glad I grabbed two because one had a helmet glued VERY askew. Pretty sure I can fix it but damn I’d have been pissed if that was my only copy.

G.I. Joe Classified Beamish-Style Weekend Vehicle Poll - The First 69

Who’s down with AGP? Ev’ry last IG! (Sorry, had to do it)

G.I. Joe Classified Beamish-Style Weekend Vehicle Poll - The First 69

I’m down with AGP. Yeah, you know me.

    G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #232 - Heavy Metal (RAH)

I loved the AGP and especially the Nullifier, the design did feel otherworldly and almost mummy-like. The “constantly pissed due to forced power-lifter lifestyle” file card is both hilarious and intriguing. This is one where I want the figure and the vehicle very much.

    Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I would definitely buy an aggressively-Kirby Loki with a throne. But that’s not a Maximum release in my mind, moving more into MTO territory.

One A Day 2.0 Day #377 Guest Starring SDcomics - Spitfire

Of course whenever I hear “Bloodstone”, what I think of is: Fun fact: I have a replica of that Bloodstone sitting on a shelf in my office in full view: I figure either my clients will have no idea what it is or else will be very impressed. I also have a Cthulhu idol sitting in there.

One A Day 2.0 Day #377 Guest Starring SDcomics - Spitfire

You bet your boots I do! I need my monster hunter to fight all the monsters. Whom I also need.

    G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #232 - Heavy Metal (RAH)

Yes! That’s what I love about him! He’s very high on the list of Joes other Joes are creeped out and even morally offended by.

    Marvel Legends Two-Packs

I didn’t expect to love this set, but I do. I put Pietro in the most extreme pose I could, popped the screaming head on, and said to my wife: “gonna tell everyone this is what reading comics in the 90s was like.” As for Nat, her heads are WONDERFUL. Huge improvements for the “short with bangs...

    Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Mattel could get a lot of mileage out of a “large ape” body, well beyond MotU. They should make Gygor and “own” the mold so they can distribute it to DC projects.
  21. AceofKnaves

    Marvel Legends Maximum Series

Only reason I didn’t put him on was that I was unsure what look I would suggest. I can think of at least three separate and distinct Loki versions we need that wouldn’t be covered by one Maximum release. I definitely think it would be either/or with the goblins: a Max release and then use that...

    G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #232 - Heavy Metal (RAH)

Hell yes to Psyche-Out!!! I want his other versions as well, but the original nutso design is a must-have. Gimme those body-mounted satellite dishes!!
  23. AceofKnaves

    Marvel Legends Maximum Series

Villains I think can and might become Maximum releases: -Magneto -Doom -Green Goblin -Hobgoblin -Doctor Octopus -Venom -Thanos -Carnage

    Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Yep, these are all really great. Been opening and messing with them all evening and I’m enjoying them all. Very psyched for Trap-Jaw to show up tomorrow.

    Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

One of my wildest overnight deliveries was the recent Classified series Special Forces guy, which was just suddenly, magically available one evening with no warning for delivery like six hours later.
