Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

If you can, post pics of that kitbashed He-Man (in the Masteverse thread! Keep it alive!)
Agreed.

I will fully defend what we got from Masterverse, they were a lot of fun for someone like me who COMPLETELY missed Classics,
I really like Masterverse from a distance. I enjoy looking at peoples' photos and collections quite a lot.
What I did not enjoy was collecting Masterverse. It killed joy. You basically couldn't get them here, so everything became an online exclusive. I will never forgive Mattel for releasing Blade in numbers that essentially made him an instant sell-out, and then also never doing any further movie figures. In fact, I'm also very generally angry that I waited almost my entire life for '87 movie figures and two companies did them essentially back-to-back, made them incompatible with each other, and did different characters in each line. Fuck off, you guys.

And I found Masterverse figures just weren't very fun to mess with. I was often frustrated by them and what they couldn't do but seemed like they should be able to, I guess? I dunno. I don't regret selling most of my Masterverse figures, but I also would be very surprised if Mattel takes another crack at the '87 movie so that incomplete collection probably stays until I die.

He-Man and BC look great! I'm really loving how we're getting all these figures that can finally hold their weapon with both hands above their waist. Really excited to try and track these down; they'll be my first real dive into a MOTU line. Even if the movie ends up being a bust (but fingers crossed it's not), these are still some darn good looking toys. Any line that gives me a heckin' big cat is alright in my book!

Yep, these are all really great. Been opening and messing with them all evening and I’m enjoying them all. Very psyched for Trap-Jaw to show up tomorrow.

There's like a non-zero chance I'm going to order Triclops the MINUTE I open He-Man and MaA tomorrow, isn't there.

Pic of the Masterverse kitbash incoming, just gonna snap a pick of him with King Grayskull to keep it thread-relevant. It's nothing special, just put my favorite head on one of my favorite base bodies and cherry pickd the sword but he makes me happy.

The helmet does not stay on well at all, slightest nudge and it’s falling off. The legs have a mix of too-tight joints (at the ankles) and too-loose (at the knees) that he has trouble maintaining a pose without buckling under his own weight, let alone with HM riding.

Mine is not like this at all, so there may be variance.

Very limited options in the UK for Chronicles but managed to find He-Man on Amazon for delivery tomorrow so let's see what he's like. Given Masterverse has dried up at stores like Forbidden Planet it feels like these will be online only. I was hoping the movie would get them back in Smyths and Entertainer but looks like they're just stocking the core line.
And he arrived first thing but missing a hand so he has to go back 🤦‍♂️
Replacement should be here tomorrow.

This is far from a definitive anything, but I do think Mattel has '87 characters in their sights still in some capacity. Karg and Pig Boy are featured in the upcoming movie and its merch/toys, so there's definitely some sort of interest within Mattel to see them around. I wouldn't be surprised if they, Goat Man, and Gygor are featured in Chronicles once we shift to standard figure releases.

If it helps you at all; Tri-Klops is easily the weakest/least impressive figure of the three. But yeah, you're gonna get him anyway.

I get a different read on this. To me, it's obviously just Mattel wanting to make use of their intellectual property. You own these characters, you want to use them. Also, doing something like throwing Pig Boy and Goat Man into a new movie, and then making toys of them based on that appearance, is excellent fan-service. It shows the audience that you know and care about the history of the franchise. It's incredibly smart.

But Gwildor was in the Kevin Smith cartoon on Netflix and it went precisely nowhere for any movie stuff. We didn't even get a proper MOVIE VERSION of Gwildor himself in Masterverse because of it. That cartoon also had a few other verbal references to the movie, as well as having both Blade and Pig Boy make appearances. Again, it's just fan-service to get you excited when you see/hear it.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Goat Man or Gygor either. They are characters that Mattel owns and wants to make money on if they can. And there would be a lot of interest because those haven't been made since Classics and were -NEVER- made before that. But movie-specific versions of characters they have a bunch of other versions of to make - like He-Man himself? Right after they just did some movie stuff for Masterverse? I actually would be very surprised.
Would love to be wrong, though.

I love Gygor, and I've still got my MOTUC one. His sculpt was always a bit more realistic than the general MOTUC style, so I think he'll work fine with Chronicles, but I wouldn't object to a new Chronicles one with better articulation (and ideally, identified as a good guy, as originally intended).

I'd also love to see an Origins classic Gygor...

Same.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Mattel could get a lot of mileage out of a “large ape” body, well beyond MotU. They should make Gygor and “own” the mold so they can distribute it to DC projects.

I loved the fact I that I when I woke up yesterday and went online to preorder the new Chronicle figures I found out that it wasn’t a preorder and I was able to order that morning and have them arrive that evening (same day shipping was free too not sure why but it was). I wish more lines were like this.

I'm actually having trouble looking at Fisto seriously because the actor played the biggest douchebag in Vikings: Ragnarok so well all I see is that character. That two-pack has been up on Amazon for a bit but haven't bitten yet.
I don’t honestly think this version of either fisto or ram man look that enticing to me.

Probably closer to red carpet scale.

But it is funny the basic figure has Black Series articulation. Elbow range is weak, though. She looks closer to Camila in hand than the promos, and I will of course be dumping her for the Chronicles as I can, but.

For now.

Also she has a trigger hand for her gun.

Looking closely at the pics for the female characters I think their articulation is going the kind of mid. Looks like there’s no waist cut at all, but they do get a torso cut and double jointed elbows…. So it’s better, but would still like a ball jointed waist

I ended up buying triclops because I saw him at target and he was the one decided
To “skip” lol.

Hes ok, joints still feel nice. Torso and butterfly joints don’t have as much range as you would want, so he can’t really do a convincing sniper pose… so he’s like, shooting from the hip is as close as you can get.
