Marvel Legends Maximum Series

It won't be immediate, but they also don't totally think this way. Otherwise we wouldn't see BAFs re-issued single-carded or in two-packs, because that devalues the entire BAF concept. Why buy those two extra figures you don't want for the BAF when you can just buy the BAF in two years?

Hasbro views the Maximum figures as an expression unto itself. They also know collectors are impatient as fuck. Even if you told people right now 'we're going to release a super deluxe black suit Spider-Man Maximum figure tomorrow, and in 2027 you're going to see him again single-carded but without all the cool shit' -- how many collectors are going to buy the Max figure? Fucking all of them. And Hasbro knows it.
I think that’s the model, and in the case of the BAFs they seem to do a solid job of spacing them out. I’m not the most plugged in where Legends are concerned, but it seems like there’s usually a span of years between the BAF wave and any solo release. I’m guessing there have been some exceptions which might have more to do with cross-marketing and whatever else Marvel asks for.

I think you can argue it in both directions because it's one of those 'it's a long time, but not in toy years' situations. Juggernaut was released as a BAF in mid-2016 and was in a two-pack again, but better (in my opinion) by early 2019. 2.5 years is kind of a long time, but also like.. not really. That's less advanced notice than we get for some video game releases, mind you. The Hasbro team is working RIGHT NOW on toys we'll see 2 years from now.
So while, in the moment, 2 years can feel like a long time, I don't think it's actually a long time in the grander 'collecting world.' And I definitely think if Hasbro said 'we're going to make the definitive tigerstripe Wolverine Legends figure and it will release in 2.5 years,' then they would struggle to sell any other regular, single-carded TS Wolverine figure between now and that day. So on some level even collectors don't think a couple of years is really that long to wait.

A Maximum Wasp set would be a dream come true.
I'd do this: One standard size figure, 10 mini-figures and some blast effects.

The standard 6-inch figure:

10 mini-figures:
1) Corresponding to the 6-inch figure
2) 1st appearance, since we didn't get it originally when we should have

3) Korvac Saga

I'd put the 1960's red and yellow costume with Yellowjacket in a 2-pack. The Giant-Man and 1st appearance Wasp set sold out. I think a Yellowjacket and Wasp set would sell out as well. This set would include a mini-Wasp in the same red and yellow costume and a mini Yellowjacket.

Also noticeably absent from my Maximum mini-Wasps is the Secret Wars Wasp. I'd put her in a third Secret Wars wave as a single carded figure - standard version and mini-version with normal size and mini size lenticular shields. That way normal size Secret Wars Wasp can interact with Secret Wars Magneto, who we haven't gotten yet and would be a prime candidate for a third wave.

As for The Crossing insect version, I have a feeling that is going to be offered in a 2-pack, so the mini-version can go there.

Hear me out. How about that #4 Under Siege look. Swappable black and red limbs to achieve the costume in the shot with Yellowjacket. Pop the hands and glove cuffs, swap the boots, but include black arms and legs, and red arms and legs. Two distinct costumes.

Heaven help me, I think most of the best candidates for a Maximum woman are non-X-Women.

She-Hulk in the white/purple costume decked out with accessories. Ponytail, big hair, and smiling heads, a ton of Deadpool/Gwenpool-like hands, dumbbells, and some lawyer accessories (a file, paperwork, and an OG cellphone?).

Invisible Woman with swappable invisible limbs and big, clear bubbles, shields, etc.

Elektra, as eloquently presented by Stoopid Sandwich.

Black Widow—hear me out—in the gray '80s bodysuit with the spider symbol on her back. Similar accessories to the Target exclusive, plus more guns, gauntlet effects, and a pleather jacket. Give her the grappling hook/line and maybe a smoke effect accessory.

MAGIK with multiple swords, Stepping Discs, magic effects, and a Limbo demon pack-in.

I could make a good case for Storm and Jean, too. I'd love to see Rogue, but I can't squeeze enough value out of the accessories that come to mind.
I don't know if we get a Widow so close to the Target one that basically was one.

I don't. We're helpless addicts. We know something better is always coming, yet that never stops us.

Good shout.

Is she as versatile? I'm just thinking how the black one had different eras of heads. I suppose if you really wanted to push it, you could do alternate belts and cuffs with extra heads to really hit things like the Chris Samnee era (she was with the bike, I thought the head was close).

Grey Widow with swappable arms for the jacket would be dope.

Maximum mystique with different heads, mid transition on some, and different arms that you can interchange, also mid transition. That would be cool af. I'd consider that.

I’ve been turning over in my sleep over this last night but I think another valid candidate for some Spider-man characters to be inducted into the Maximum Series is Mayday Parker. Only if it’s because it’s been about ten years since we last saw a figure of her and she absolutely deserves the super articulated treatment (and yes I think she should be in her classic Spider-Girl costume, not her updated Spider-Woman look)

Also I want to see Kraven get the maximum treatment. I can imagine him coming with a spear, bolas, hunting rifle, traps, knives, poison darts and a dart gun along with his pet tiger. (Or was it a Jaguar in the comics?) either way he is worthy of such a release.

I agree that Spider-Girl could definitely use another release on an updated female body - but it doesn't make sense as a Maximum figure. For many, many reasons. In no world does it require any more accessories than *maybe* an unmasked head and the standard spider-person hands - or would it sell at a $50 price point.

I think as the Maximum conversation goes on - some people are going to invoke the line instead of just saying "I'd like an improved version of x released." We still got great new, innovative releases like Black Widow and others with dedicated sculpts as 'regular' releases - yes, some at a higher price point. It's safe to say that Maximum is going to be for the A-listers who can justify a large amount of accessories, usually represented across the many previous releases of that character, plus some larger new stuff to justify the much higher price point (sperm webs, a missile...). Most of this stuff appears to be fair game for other subsequent releases (the web shield now being released in the Magic wave). A lot of people seem to be saying they'd like a Maximum release of a c-list character instead of "it would be cool to get a brand new sculpt for x in the main line." The only difference, seemingly, between a regular release base figure (done right) and Maximum would be potentially different neck articulation and a toe hinge. Would Kraven make for a cool Maximum figure? Absolutely. Would it sell for $50 if it came with 12 guns and maybe an animal or 2? The only characters popular enough to sell enough product at $50 with extra shit are Spider-Man, Cap, Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine and one would think Hulk. We saw how that half-baked release went. It will be available on discount.
