General Marvel Legends

So they updated that baggy-crotched suited body to pinless legs - but will that mean the character can actually stand up this time? Probably not because the SHOES STILL SUCK!!!!

This is highly disappointing - that is a buck that has needed retirement for YEARS - and here it is again AND with more money poured into it! It's also short - Mandarin looks stumpy because his jacket is so long and his legs are not. He looks like he's wearing his Dad's clothes. Why is he not at least on the taller Nick buck?

Also, the headsculpt just looks like Extremis Tony with long hair. Which is accurate, according to the back of the box?

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't think I ever actually read the Extremis arc, despite it being one of the defining stories of the 2000s and for Iron Man generally. It's going on my list now.

Honestly, when I see Mandarin in a suit, my mind's eye flashes back more to the Psylocke introduction arc ("Lady Mandarin") more than the Extremis story. But I'm old, so...

Do the Mandarin hands even have rings?
The claw-nailed hands don’t!

They are LITERALLY Dracula hands.

Come on now.

Remember paramilitary red herring Ben Kingsley Mandarin? In my head canon the "Trevor" persona was all an act for some grander scheme which I forgot my made-up details to. He MEANT to get caught and taken away for some nefarious purpose. Made for a decent figure.

(Ah, MCU The Ten Rings. Looked like it was going nowhere at first. Then they make it seem like they have plans for it. Now it's back to apparently going nowhere.)

But Xialing had such attitude! And they reshot the ending so Razorfist (?) didn't die!

Isn't one of the Ten Rings dudes from IM1 in Wonder Man or Vision Quest?

I think Shag Chi was the first post-credits stinger where the moment it started I immediately checked out thinking "yeah, this isn't going to lead to anything". I feel bad for Tony Leung. He's so good. And he could have been a really awesome villain. *sad trombone*

Least he got that paycheck.

They really shouldn’t have used the yellow-peril villain characters at all, if they were just going to dance around them and then kind-of just sloppily squish them together into one character, kinda.

I’d rather not deal with Fu Manchu and the Mandarin at all, if it’s gonna be like that.

I wonder how the head and hands would look on the Trevor Slattery figure Hasbro made. Seems like a pretty easy kitbash for folks who aren't too attached to Trevor himself.

Edit- or, for that matter, the Disney Store Sao Feng figure from At World's End. Don't know if they're exactly in scale with one another, but could be fudgeable. Just trying to think of figures/characters that emulate the same(ish) style that could be in/near scale.

I don't recall the specifics but Doctor Strange (which predates Shan Chi) had an after credit scene that had something to do with Benjamin Bratt.

"And they never saw him again".
