Thor is drawn with bangs quite often. Kirby and Simonson draw him that way. As does the era this costume is from.
Really love this Maximum Thor! My favorite Thor costume, and he looks great. I wanted a soft goods cape so that Thor can get into dynamic stances. I hope the hair won’t get in the way. Love the face options. I’m going to be tempted to buy more than one of this Thor for different setups.

Coipel definitely drew Thor with bangs, as dumb as it looks. This figure is accurate to that.
I owe Hasbro an apology for this one. When they released the Herald Thor a few years back, I threw a fit. I was certain they'd reuse it for a Coipel Thor. Not only is this a new sculpt, but it looks damn-near perfect. It has everything the wonderful 2011 figure lacked: double-jointed elbows, ankle rockers, a reasonable scale (let's assume), and A WIRED CAPE.
If I were cutting my collection down to a fraction of its current size, this guy would immediately make the cut. He's a must-have.
Respectfully, one of your worst takes. I truly don't give a fuck whether it's practical. You know what else isn't practical? A big fucking anime sword. Doesn't matter. A big-ass anime sword strapped to someone's back is as good as peanut butter and chocolate.
Throg is cool, but even technically calling it a two-pack is BS.
Also, they still couldn't give a proper hair flying sculpt so he can actually look UP. Disappointing.
None of the Thor portraits really say "Thor" to me. Also, the hair looks really bad - the strands are super thick and do look like Play-Doh. Thor with bangs is definitely a choice - this hair looks like He-Man. Kinda hate it. Hasbro has been on such a good run with great hairsculpts lately, too, so this is a bummer.
Noodle-hair is a great way to put it, I had almost described it that way in my previous post myself..Oh, that's fair. I'm not even saying anyone has to like it. I don't think I'm a huge fan of the way ML does hair in general, but I'm also mostly just resigned to it now. This reminds me of the updated Sentry they did, with the noodle-hair. I just kinda go 'yeah, this is pretty much the ML style for doing hair and I can live with it.'
This is what I was saying - I Googled and was aware Thor sported this hideous hairstyle when in this costume. My issue with the hair on this figure isn't the style, but the execution. The hair coming out from under the helmet looks terrible, imo. The head/hair swap feature leads to a bit of a toupee look for the helmet-less look. The bangs give the Classic Widow sculpt a run for it's money on who is more glam. I probably would never have displayed him helmet-less anyway, but the combination of the hair sculpting and the swap feature make the hair piece useless for me.
I've always been puzzled by that element of the design. The fact that it's Thor's best costume in spite of it is remarkable.I thought the just-paint lower discs on his tunic looked bad but that appears to be accurate.
The heads could definitely use work. There's way too much face on that face. It kind of reminds me of what happened to David Hasselhoff as he aged.
Sometimes the edgelord dipshits are right. Look at every D&D rogue. And giant anime swords are also stupid as fuck. Giant sword on a character's back is the perfect way to tell me you fucking suck at designing characters and weapons and you're an edgelord dipshit.
No. They're never right. Look at every D&D rogue.Sometimes the edgelord dipshits are right. Look at every D&D rogue.
I'm not sure that I am. In theory? I love the potential options for different expressions with hair styles or helmets.. In practicality? Imports can pull these features off much better, but Hasbro simply can't execute certain features properly.. Look at barbell neck joints, for example. Hasbro has been implementing them for years and still hasn't learned that sinking the ball join as low in the neck as they do renders the joint useless. This is what I was saying - I Googled and was aware Thor sported this hideous hairstyle when in this costume.
The hair itself looks poorly sculpted and the bangs start too far back on the crown of his head.
But - I am glad for swappable hair becoming a thing! It makes a lot of sense and is way more exciting to me than a fabric cape.
