Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

Here's Deadline's report:

A couple of more musings from someone (me) who's been accused of thinking about this stuff way too much:

Doomsday is now going toe to toe with Warner's Dune: Messiah. I mean, that's two huge genre movies released in a very short amount of time. It makes for fun fan fights, but it may be too much for the box office. Someone may blink. Could Doomsday's release date change yet again?

As of the way things stand right now (And admittedly it could very well change) Marvel has only two films scheduled for 2026 (And one of those is co-produced by Sony) and one movie scheduled for 2027. I know they have said they want quality over quantity now and I get that. But still. That seems pretty sparse.

But again, I get it. It's best that Marvel spends all their time and attention on Doomsday and Secret Wars and make them the best they can be. That way the Multiverse Saga can go out on a high and they can start on the next big story.

Okay, so I'm still thinking about all this. I know, I know. But let me make a few more points.

What we know:

Daredevil Born Again Season Two is currently filming in New York. Most of the cast of the old Marvel Netflix shows are also currently in New York.

Daredevil Born Again 2 is scheduled to premiere on Disney + in March, 2026. It's slated for 9 episodes, so it should wrap up in late April or early May. Spider-Man Brand New Day is currently on the schedule for July 26th 2026, just a few short weeks later.

Now ... we all know that the Netflix Marvel characters are in the MCU, right? They're canon. We saw Matt Murdock in Spider-Man No Way Home. We saw Daredevil in She-Hulk. We saw the Kingpin in Hawkeye. There's no debate. The Netflix shows are canon.

That being the case, shouldn't someone besides Daredevil have something to say about Mayor Fisk declaring martial law, instituting a curfew and outlawing vigilantes? Spider-Man? Hawkeye? Nick Fury?

And now we know, as of this evening, Spider-Man Brand New Day is no longer coming out between Doomsday and Secret Wars. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Multiverse movie. Not that it ever did, but now there won't be any confusion.

What I'm saying is ... What if the end of Daredevil Season 2 leads right into Spider-Man 4? It could be so bloody epic. Guest stars galore. Spidey. DD. The Punisher. Iron Fist. Luke Cage. Jessica Jones. The Daughters of the Dragon. Rosario Dawson reprising her role as Claire Temple. Trish Walker as Hellcat?

For the villains, Kingpin would be obvious. The three rumored villains, Tombstone, Boomerang and Scorpion. Plus Elektra. Bullseye. Swordsman. Jigsaw. Shocker. Vulture. Cottonmouth. The Steel Serpent. They could be the Kingpin's own little group of Thunderbolts.

Well ... probably not. But it would be cool.

Gang War would be something I'd want drawn from. Also, D'Onnofrio has said he can't play Kingpin in the movies because of the rights situation with Sony. But... Doesn't that mean he could appear in a Sony movie?

That's probably true. In the comics, Kingpin first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 50, so that probably makes him one of theirs.
But... Doesn't that mean he could appear in a Sony movie?
Sure. The Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Electro, Lizard, Mysterio, Vulture and a few others have all made their first appearances in Amazing Spider-Man comics and they all appeared in Marvel Studios movies produced by Sony. I don't see why the Kingpin would be any different.

And you know, at the end of the day, the Kingpin is more of a Daredevil villain now than Spider-Man, and it's been that way since 1980 or 81. Sony's gonna hafta lighten up.

Sony's gonna hafta lighten up.
Marvel's gonna hafta pay up.

I just want a nice Holland Spidey movie - I don't want it infected with all of that. Maybe a team-up with Daredevil *on a good day* - not in the middle of a bloody war.

Two Brits playing lifelong New Yorkers - ahhhh, Hollywood. :)

Every MCU Spider-Man movie so far has included at least one guest star ... Iron Man, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange ... and that will probably be the case with the next one, be it Daredevil or someone else.

I'm with you. A good old fashioned Spidey DD team up with one or two villains would be something right out of the Stan Lee days and a lot of fun. I just don't think that's what we're going to get. I know Sony, and Sony is going to want some kind of event movie. I don't know if that means the Defenders or Venom and Knull or the Young Avengers or what. I just know it ain't gonna be a solo Spidey movie and there's probably going to be more than one guest star.

Here's something we can take to the bank: We've probably seen the last of Madame Web, Morbius and Kraven.

But maybe I shouldn't say that either. Who the hell knows what Sony's going to want.

I wish that Jared Leto was very very busy filming more Morbius so that he'd have no time to sully the Masters of the Universe movie with his Skeletor portrayal.

I guess I don’t mind a guest star on Spidey’s “level” like Daredevil, as long as they don’t make him “mentor” Spidey or whatever. My least favorite part about the MCU/Sony hybrid films is that Spidey is always someone’s sidekick, or pining for a dead (bad) mentor, or being supervised, or just basically getting stuck with an MCU babysitter. Spidey as a follower and “company man” is just so weirdly out of character and reeks of studio mandates. I’d like a Spidey who stands on his own, without special gear invented by someone else, who deals with villains from his own universe who have a specific beef with him.

@AceofKnaves Yeah, at this point, they'd really be making a mistake giving him a new mentor. Spider-Man is now full formed and an undeniable hero through and through, let's have a teamup rather than what the other ones were. And Daredevil makes the most sense as far as Marvel Studios characters. Watch it be Moon Knight or somebody though.

Which... I wouldn't even hate at all, actually.

Moon Knight, along with She-Hulk and Werewolf by Night, are far and away my favorite MCU things, so I’d be ALL FOR Marc and his mind-friends to show up.
