Random Observations and ?s Re: Older Marvel Legends

I don't mind buying updates of really bad figures but these "marginally better" ones that are a rerelease of something we just got two years ago are just a real buzz kill.

I'm sure no one was upset about replacing their old Toy Biz Rogue with the Juggernaut wave for example.

I still have all my TB display bases, but they're all stored. I just don't have room to display them. There were definitely some stand outs though. But also, some were just out of scale, and I would never consider using them. Like the base that came with series 6 brown Wolverine. That tiny Ogun sitting with the sword in that even tinier dojo? You go in storage. The Sentinel bases that came with X-Men were good, but weren't in scale with each other. The partial head seemed too small, the sentinel hand seemed too big. The ice structures didn't seem practical or anything like what Iceman would make. I didn't love the bases that had injured foes, like ML3 Wolverine's massacred Hellfire goons, or Venom's Guardsman. They were all too scene specific, even if comic accurate. Just not something I would display. I liked rooftops, ledges, walls, but again, those had scale issues.

Gatecrasher? Really that popular? That’s exactly the kind of character that would need to be attached to figures that are already popular on their own.
Maybe I'm delulu. I think she's arguably the biggest remaining BAF-sized X-Men baddie. I think she's important enough for a Fan Channel release.

I'd love a Gatecrasher, but there are other perhaps more modern X-Men BAF types that I'd personally prefer like Rockslide, Armor, something representing Krakoa, Glob Herman, Box, maybe even Skin as a BAF... just my 2 cents. But those aren't necessarily "baddies" either which you might have been referring to specifically. I really want some type of Krakoa playset and Rockslide is my #1 most wanted character (which we won't get because of MCU Korg).

Norm, I still use that Ogun (separate from the dojo). Would love an actual figure of that character, especially with the mask! There were some Joe Classified ninja masks that were similar not all that long ago but I failed to pick them up.

I use some of the old TB diorama pieces, but it's very hit and miss.

I use most of the ones I have left - I LOVED and LOVE those. I just saw the ToyBiz Spider-Man Alley playset at a store and almost grabbed it.

Most of my Marvel Select purchases were for the bases. Can't believe how many years I wanted the Marvel Girl X-Mansion Gates and how long it took me to just get them.

Those X-Mansion gates are excellent. I bought two Marvel Girls to put one set of gates together. Never got Rachel Grey, I thought she looked weird and inaccurate. The gates are fortunately reversible, though the plaques say something different on each. "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters" and some variation of that... Marvel Select bases were often more useful to me. I still use the MCU Iron Man armor bays. I loved that Black Cat practically came with a room - a floor and wall with a working double hung window! There was enough room to put whatever you wanted in that room, so I used accessories that came with SM1 figures, like JJJ's desk, Peter's book case. Again, not something I have room to display, but those won't be going anywhere should I decide to cull those bases from storage.

Gatecrasher is on my top 10 so that automatically makes you non-delulu.
I think a full Technet box set would be a best seller. I live firmly in the real world and not a fantasy land where everyone knows Excalibur is the best x-book ever made.

Guys. We don't even have Rachel Grey Phoenix. Or Widget. Or Kylun. Or Cerise.

See, you aren't thinking like Hasbro. Look at all the minor little characters we have like Razorback and Frog Man. Yet no Mandarin or Mantis.

Did Razorback and Frog Man make a team with Mandarin and Mantis?

I'm saying, complete Excalibur first! (that doesn't sound like Hasbro to me!) THEN make some of those Technet folks.

Or The Starjammers.

I'm so annoyed Hasbro started them and just stopped. WHYYYY START? Shanna is finally coming a year late. Why was she not planned to drop last year? Hasbro has mostly full control of this stuff!! Most teams have a finite number of players - that's what line-planning is all about.

Finish a team, add to a team, start a team - and start the team with a plan to continue adding to it and completing it with your next three releases.

I'm mostly with you on the Starjammers (though that was only 2023), but Shanna is a big win. We'll have the whole trio within a year of each other - that's basically warp speed as far as I'm concerned!
