Nunchuk never looks like it's spelled right.

Code Name: Nunchuk (Disavowed)
File Name: Badducci, Ralph
Primary Military Specialty: Self-Defense Instructor
Secondary Military Specialty: Ordinance
Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York
Rank: E-5

While the subject was never officially part of the military unit, his affiliation with Ninja Force and the assassin known as Storm Shadow ensured that Badducci should remain under surveillance by the Lewis administration. Even more concerning than his ties to enemies of the administration was what Badducci following the team's dissolution - he has been seen attending rallies by the religious extremist Serpentor and appears to be working his way up the ranks of his organization. Needless to say, the subject's actions are currently under extreme scrutiny by our agents.

"Nunchuck is really sticking his neck out for us out there right now. We needed someone on the inside with whatever the hell is going on with this Serpentor character, but it couldn't be an official Joe - Serpentor's handlers would sniff one of us out in a heartbeat. But Nunchuk has always flown under the radar - he's trained by the best damned ninja in the world, but if you don't know that, he really can just pass himself off as a regular dude, exactly the type of guy who gets indoctrinated by hyper-masculine self-improvement cults like the one Serpentor is running. We know Lewis is watching, too, because while Ralph wasn't one of our star players, he's a known collaborator, so now he's got two targets on his back. Fortunately, if anyone can punch, kick, and slash their way out of a bad situation, it's a star protege of Storm Shadow..."

I absolutely agree!
regular dude
Were you AT ALL tempted to say "regular Joe" or was that immediately too far?

I'm gonna sleep on it before I price him online but damnit you made me kinda into this guy even though i never had the figure originally and didn't get the Classified one. I don't know how hard it was to make such a badass out of someone whose name you feel the way you do about, heh, but it was awesome and I love how you're also getting more into Serpentor here.

Never even occurred to me to call him a regular Joe and now I wish I did.

Nunchuk is one of the very, very few figures in my Classified collection I bought completely on impulse - I had no nostalgia for him at all and I just picked him out up out of an excess of enthusiasm. Now I'm gonna go put him on the shelf.

Been Joe heavy this week, how about a baddie:

Code Name: Twilight Guard
File Name: Various
Primary Military Specialty: Security
Secondary Military Specialty: Intelligence
Birthplace: Various
Rank: Crimson Guard Rank 3 equivalent

The Twilight Guard are President Lewis's personal bodyguard unit. Loyal only to the President, the identities of these elite commandos are zealously guarded. Rumor has it they give up the names of their families and loved ones as collateral ensuring their loyalty to Lewis and his administration. They are never visibly used at public events, though they act as undercover agents, running security and ensuring Lewis's safety at every appearance. Their precise number is unknown, but it believed to be less than two dozen men, unwaveringly loyal to Lewis and willing to both kill and die for him.

"Lewis's paranoia knows no bounds. He has the full might of the United States military behind him in addition to his own private army, and yet he insists on having a secret protectorate loyal only to him. The Twilight Guard all believe they are part of a secret society that will be standing above us all when the world crumbles and only Lewis is there to pick up the pieces. They are zealots, but they are well-trained and dangerous zealots, better trained than any Crimson Guardsman and twice as ruthless. In the event we need to depose Lewis, I do not look forward to pitting my own Grenadiers against these men. I believe we could overwhelm them with numbers, but they will spill a river of blood to protect their leader."

Ah damn! May have been too much of a wink tho

I actually almost got him when i started on Classified late in 2024 since I love masked guys... May have to damnit.

I love/am so creeped out by this kinda cult shit.
better trained than any Crimson Guardsman and twice as ruthless
This part was eye opening
pitting my own Grenadiers against these men
And even more so when you realize who is saying it.
they will spill a river of blood to protect their leader."
Great fucking ending.

There's almost nothing for the Twilight Guards in terms of file cards other than "they're like Crimson Guards, but loyal to CC" so it was kind of fun to run with that. We have some experience with cult leaders in positions of power after all.

I could probably count on one hand the number of Classified I own where I'm like "why did I buy this guy?" and Nunchuk was one but I think that kind of makes for a fun challenge. How do I make a character I don't love interesting to me as a reader?

I guess that's really it yeah. Of course you're gonna make every one enticing otherwise why write it?

But yeah, the cult angle is so disturbing to me. But definitely a crucial component to the whole thing.

I love how Lewis' tenure is clearly unsustainable. Every Joe under surveillance, every threat around the corner is overwhelming.

It has to be, right? I think that's one of the more interesting ideas buried in here; CC spent so long literally trying to rule the world. What -actually- happens when he gets it? You either have to rule the graveyard, or spend your entire life incredibly paranoid and surrounded by walls within walls within walls.

Great cards, as always. Frostbite is out there doing cold-Joe stuff. I really dig the idea in there that not only did the Joe leadership understand something like this was, maybe not inevitable, but a strong enough possibility to plan for. But also that the extreme weather type Joes would be the most suited to retrieve any cache of gear.
Does Cobra or MARS have any accountant-types? I feel like we need a file card where someone realizes that an inventory of The Pit has come up short on a number of vehicles and heavy ordinance/weapons that should have been there, and how bad that is for them.

Twilight Guard is great for amping up that Lewis paranoia and the absolutely ridiculous situation he's put himself in of needing, as I said above, walls within walls, just to feel even remotely secure.

Nunchuk is another figure I now kind of regret skipping, of course. I do really, genuinely, love that 'Ninja Force' is just a thing that exists in this universe with a totally straight face.

What happens when the worst person on earth actually gets what he wants.

Maybe it's me trying to push my hopes into story form but yeah, I gotta hope that a paranoid megalomaniac who doesn't trust anyone will not be able to sustain power... right? RIGHT?

I think in the 80s the Joes would have been too optimistic to think this could happen, but with the sensibilities of today's world no way they wouldn't have contingencies, I'd think.

Okay now I need you guys to help me pick an existing blank character to be the Cobra Accountant. Maybe one of the Crimson generics since the CeeGees are all accountants and lawyers?

I thought TG was just a kind of nifty re-paint when they put it out but making it CC's PERSONAL guard is interesting - he knows the Crimsons are loyal to the twins and so they control the smartest people in the organization.

I have no nostalgia for Ninja Force but I know a lot of guys do, so I wanted to bring them in and treat them with a respectful/serious eye. Like I said upthread, I only got Nunchuk because he happened to come out when there was a lull and just was over-enthusiastic but I'm like... how can we make this guy more fun with so little existing material?

There's actually a few existing characters that -could- work in a sense for something like this; Data Vipers would obviously be pulled in to assess all the systems and data available at The Pit.
You could also tap some of the less-used later characters like Crimson Asp for Cobra, or make it one of Destro's guys; General Mayhem.
