Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

Rose Byrne did the voice for Leatherhead in the newest TMNT, and I wasn't even sure whether that character was supposed to be female or not. I'm putting Kristen Wig in the same category as Nancy Cartwright doing Bart Simpson for years until proven otherwise.

I'll be happier if they heavily modulate Leto's voice or over-dub him entirely to create the best Skeletor possible for the film. The trailer makes me more hopeful, but I'll reserve judgement until I see the final product.

It does make me glad I opted in for that Mondo 1/12 Skeletor now though, as at least HeMan will be out that same summer (tail end of it) as this film.
Iirc in the original leather head was Cajun? Like kind of like a less intense Waterboy accent lol

Originally yes. In the last film I seem to remember Leatherhead sounding more Australian than anything. I imagine that's what they get for hiring a British woman to do a cajun accent, or they just gave up and let her do whatever she wanted. They might've even thought that Leatherhead was a crocodile, given those are what's common in Australia.

I like some of the designs in the trailer, and paused on Skeletor just to end up laughing over Goatman's stupid face for a few minutes. Skeletor looks great though, just wish he weren't played by that shithead.

I don't really care for the story ideas and a lot of what's going on, having ANY Earth setting for MOTU is just fucking stupid. It was kind of hilarious in the original movie, seeing all these swords and sorcery characters just in a normal ass town. But jesus christ we don't need to do it again.

Admittedly though, I'm also just not completely sold on any bit of MOTU media I've indulged in, and just prefer the general idea of the mythos. All versions have elements and additions I like, but also so many things that turned me off. I love the Keldor lore, sci-fi fantasy is something I've always adored and wanted to see more of in mainstream high-budget media, especially with a skew towards the fantasy aspect. So many charming character ideas as well. But Smith's show had some terribly fucking annoying dialogue and Netflix Original Series baggage that season 2 thankfully toned down, 200X takes a while to kick off, OG MOTU is a Filmation Cartoon, etc.

So really, not high stakes for me, but I'll enjoy it enough for what it is. Hopefully the Skeletor figure is cool and we get a new Goatman out of this. I like that guy's face. Free my boy Orko, though.
