Wow... I don't want a single one of those shows. In fact, I think most of them are distinctly terrible ideas.
Even with Vader, I think they've overplayed their hand a bit. I like the Vader solo comics, but I also don't necessarily believe some of that stuff translates well into the established 'live-action' franchise where Vader isn't necessarily doing, or even capable of doing, the batshit insane things that force-users can sometimes do in comics. In fact, I'd argue one of the biggest flaws of modern Star Wars is the massive disparity in power levels just between different pieces of media. A Vader series would only exacerbate that problem.
I think there's probably ways to do a Vader series , but I don't think fans would want to see most of them anyway. What fans think they want is just an entire 6-12 hours of Vader being a terrifying badass. In reality, fans would get bored by that real fast and it would not be particularly engaging; like a nonstop action movie where you literally just get tired of explosions and gunfire.
The Clone Wars has been adequately explored and fanboys can totally fuck off with more of that.
Wedge doesn't need to be a POV character. Not everyone needs to be a POV character. In fact, I'd argue Wedge works better if he's just a regular guy that's been through it. That's partly why we still remember his name at all; he was just a soldier caught up in it all and that hits in a certain way. Don't make him another Cassian-level 'chosen hero.' Jesus.
Fuck off with anything Kylo. There isn't any meat on that bone.
Ditto for Boba Fett. Let it go.
Jango Fett is such a bullshit character and I'd prefer if we could go back to pretending he doesn't even exist. Nothing but a pre-knock-off of Boba that devalues Boba entirely.
No to Mace Windu. He's just a Jedi Master that helped completely fuck Anakin up in the head and make him evil for no good reason. Making a series out of Mace automatically imports all the stupidity of the prequels. Let it die.
Tarkin? Why? Does anyone really need a series or a movie told from the perspective of the mass murderer? This is just an article grasping at names they remember. Dumb.
Grievous and Sidious have the most potential, and also my -biggest- 'fuck off' response. Some things need to be unknown. Some things need to not be explored. Both characters are infinitely more interesting if we DON'T know the full truth of their backstory, what they got up to, and very importantly - what's going on in their heads. All of that stuff would, on some level, need to be explored and would potentially ruin the mystique of their characters.
Also just.. goddamn... make new characters and new stories. I say that, of course, as I go on to praise Andor.
I just finished Andor, finally. The wife and I were able to get in two eps yesterday and two today to finally finish. Goddamn. I have plenty of nits to pick and things I don't like. But I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said I think this is one of the best things Disney has done in over a decade. So well crafted. Great tension. Fairly believable characters (surprisingly grounded considering this is Star Wars). Dovetailing in to Rogue One and ANH like it does really couldn't have been done better. In fact, I'm having a hard time planning a way to recount the things that really hit me even just in those last two episodes.
I love the overall exploration of what a rebellion is, what it needs to be, and how it functions and even grows beyond and around its foundations; to the point where the current rebellion doesn't even trust the original rebellion. Really, I think this show manages to even plant the seeds of why the Rebellion was so ineffective at governance post-RotJ. When you are only tied together by being against something, nothing holds you together when you win. We see the beginnings of that between the rebel senators, Yavin command, Luthen, and Saw.
Anyway... amazing show. Did not expect to be saying that after quitting the show for almost 4 months after the first 2 episodes of season 1.
