I’ve always tended to be someone who focuses on just one thing at a time. Usually, that obsession is triggered by some long-wanted figure or character getting announced.
But over the last few years, that has been happening with multiple lines at a rapid pace, and it’s been overwhelming. In 2026 already we’re getting a 1989 Joker from McFarlane, an S.H.MonsterArts of Godzilla 1975 (my favorite Godzilla), a Black Series Kyle Katarn (my most-wanted Black Series figure outside of the OT), and Missing Link Grimlock. All of these are borderline grails for me. And that’s to say nothing of MOTU Masterverse, all of which I’m also collecting. Oh, and the Boss Fight Hellboy figures! I forgot those were coming.
There definitely comes a point where you start to just feel like you have too much stuff. That said, I do feel like the end is in sight for me for some of this. Kyle Katarn is great, but aside from him and maybe some other EU characters if they make them, I’m only focusing on OT Black Series characters these days. For Transformers I’m only a G1 collector for characters in the movie and the first three seasons and I’m 2/3 of the way to having a definitive collection of those in CHUG scale. The Godzilla stuff comes out at very long intervals. And I’m not planning to move on to Mattel when they get the DC license - when McFarlane is done, I’m out.
