G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

I think you're right. And WS is really cool because he's a helicopter search and rescue guy, i think?
"Coast Guard Aviation Survival Technician." No true file card for me to get his birthplace and specialties from but I suppose it's easy enough to figure out based on him being an EMT who does exfiltration.

Wreckage is fantastic, for sure. My literal reaction was 'oh shit!' I think this is the first time we've got a Joe that's completely off-script. I hadn't even thought, yet, about what it would mean for the Joes if one of their own was not playing by the rules. 'Wreckage is stressing Hawk out' is such a great opener. Sets the tone perfectly.

With all due respect to Doc, Zandar is STILL the lamest of the siblings. But I like the idea that he's doing his own thing and that seems to be a very natural evolution of the 'always in my brother's shadow' problem.

Beachhead way back in the early cards is off-script too though Hawk was like 'stop murdering people' and canonically he was like "okay, FOR NOW." I love the idea of a c-list Joe giving Hawk and crew gray hair because he can't stop blowing up Lewis administration cars.

Zandar can't be anything BUT the lamest sibling, but I wanted to at least give him SOMETHING different instead of "I"m the boy version of my cooler sister." Also I couldn't figure out who was leading the Dreadnok remnants if Zartan is off playing god. Dick Blinken is smart but he's not a leader and Monkeywrench isn't picking up the torch...

Dammit, if I'm going to spend a half hour looking up "what rank is a Joe medic" and "where is the largest population of Punjabi-Americans on the East Coast" and "WTF is an Aviation Survival Technician" and "can an ex-military medic join Doctors Without Borders" (apparently not really) I might as well write up Wolf Spider's card, yeah? (BTW @Ru1977 if you do this card, I have shots of Wolf Spider rappelling from the Dragonfly in the dark...)

Code Name: Wolf Spider (Disavowed)
File Name: Varma, Parth
Primary Military Specialty: Medic
Secondary Military Specialty: Aviation Survival Technician/Exfiltration
Birthplace: Richmond Hill, New York
Rank: E-5

Subject accepted early retirement from the GI Joe Unit upon disbandment. Rumor was that he would return to civilian life and attend medical school like many members of his family. Apparently more of a thrill-seeker, however, Varma was rejected by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) due to not meeting their specific requirements and, unsatisfied with other overseas options, took a role as an Emergency Management consultant while he pursued the education needed to join MSF. Active surveillance has not turned up any subversive activity, but concerns about his desire for action and his aggressive need to 'help people' indicates he should continue to be monitored.

"Wolf Spider is dying to get back into action. Honestly, he should just go back to finish medical school - he's more than smart enough to do it and has more relevant experience than your average ER doctor at this point. Plus it's not like there's a ton of trained physicians who also know how to rappel down a rope over a hurricane-ravaged ocean to pull an injured sailor out of the water. But just saving people isn't enough for him - he wants to save people in the MOST trouble. It's why he was so good as a Joe and why he's had so much trouble finding his place in the world since we were disbanded. Tell the truth, I think he's one bad day away from quitting his day job, walking up to Hawk's hideout, and saying 'put me in, coach.' And you know we'd love to have him."

Nice, and definitely awesome with the rappelling pictures! Yeah i remember when i was making my own shelf-canon card, getting info on him was difficult. I think they had something on Pulse and i found another source elsewhere but forget where and what it was, but feels like i didnt have anything you didnt going by your card. But really great and you really made him standout from the other medics etc.

All pulse gave was that he was from a family of doctors but wanted more action and that his real name is Parth Varma (nice to see them add someone from a community the Joes haven't had before). Kinda guessed at his specialties based on the other medics and his Coast Guard training.

That's fair. I guess I gave Beach a pass because he was at least being a little more subtle about it? Easier to write off/hide murders than explosions, maybe?

Wolf Spider is a great character with a terrible code name. It's interesting that he's one of the former Joes not necessarily acting directly in a way to line himself up for whatever the Joes are doing. Like, he's kind of legit retired rather than faking retired. At least for now.

Yeah, Beachhead was quietly murdering politicians. Wreckage is doing property damage writ large.

Were I writing this as a show or comic, Wolf Spider would be the guy doing his normal job thing, sees his brothers in arms in action, and literally just pulls his mask out of his back pocket and runs to join them when he sees, like, Rock n' Roll take a bullet to the calf.

Yeah, exactly! Like, he's okay with being done, but every news article, every hint that his friends are in danger pushes him closer just because he NEEDS to help them. It's not a want. It's primal to who he is.

This. NEEDS. To be a show or comic.
Right?

We should find a way to print maybe 4-6 of these off and give them to Lenny as a dossier at the next convention an AT'er is going to be at where Hasbro has a presence.
