G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

I’m mildly surprised they didn’t do the “t-shirt sleeves” original toy version before the iconic-media retro.

I'm not HissTank-level plugged in to the Joe fandom, but I always kind of understood that the sleeves was THE thing even hardcore ARAH fans don't like about classic Storm Shadow. So maybe the team just decided it's kind of a dumb look and not worth doing when the cartoon-style costume is WILDLY more popular, even with the ARAH crowd.

I still have mandela effect where I think they released the Storm Shadow with sleeve tattoos because I mix him up with Jinx, who got the tattoos and some people disliked it. And then I'm mildly disappointed that I don't have a sweet Storm Shadow with full tatted arms, shredder gauntlets and a cool cyber-mask.

(I'd much rather have a proper NF SS but honestly I just want all of the ninja figures they make)

Agree, give me that Shadow. Looked cool.

Is the Joe line the only Hasbro line that hasn't done a "In case you missed it" rework of figures? Marvel, Star Wars, and Transformers has.

I was going through Yojoe.com, as usual, and came upon the Marauders and Night Force etc and realized... I guess those are kinda the Joe version of 'in case you miss it'. Not as great a second chance as Black Series or Legends has done, but I guess it counts....

It's also a relatively young line compared to the ones who are doing the "in case you missed it" stuff. And absolutely repaints or alternate looks shouldn't be "in case you missed it" and the retro cards are ALMOST all different enough to not count as "in case you missed it" options - I think MAYBE Stalker and Mindbender could fill that role though they don't come as stacked with gear as the original. But otherwise slight color variation on the same figure.

But Joes have traditionally always reissued characters in a sub-team to re-use the sculpt and re-issue the character, so they're repeating the tradition, not that I agree with it, but it does feel like repeating history.

This convo has made me realize I think the only major character I'm just not fully satisfied with any option is Storm Shadow. I like his white OG costume well enough but mine struggle on the tight hips problem (I was able to boil and fix one but I shouldn't have to) and his other two looks just don't spark joy enough to be satisfying.

That's a good point.

And the other thing they haven't delved into so much, for MOST of the characters, are the non-repaint later versions. Arctic Stalker, dark haired Low Light, bearded Mercer, Rock N Roll with all the mini-gats, etc. I know there are some exceptions, but those are the really popular ones. And Duke.

Honestly, same here. If they never do Snake Eyes V3, I'll not be happy about it but I can be fine with the Snake Eyes I have. Storm Shadow... I like the V2 they did okay, but I wouldn't hesitate to get a retro one if they made him closer to the original design. I wouldn't hesitate to get a V1 redo if they made him closer to the original design. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Ninja Force if they, and so on. I would also actually get the tatted up figure too if they ever release him. I kinda hope they take that concept and apply it to a 'new' character but either way. I was into it!

Confirmed that Storm Shadow options all suck and are terrible and Doc hates them.
Only option is to GIVE ME MY FUCKING NINJA FORCE STORM SHADOW, HASBRO. Stop dicking around, and stop pretending Arctic Storm Shadow is good enough.

I will keep saying it, even though you guys are tired of hearing it: ARAH Ninja Force Storm Shadow isn't just one of my favorite Joes. That has always been one of my favorite -toys- of all time. I ask only this one boon of Hasbro; fix what you did.

This actually drives me crazy because we're talking about some of -my favorite- versions of those characters. Arctic Stalker, dark-haired Low-Light, Gatling Guns Rock N' Roll, and also v2 Sci-Fi are my favorite versions of those characters ever made. Also v3 or v5 Snake Eyes, but I don't think we're in danger of them ignoring Snake Eyes variants.

To be fair, hate 2/3, strongly dislike the third. (Does the movie one even count? Is he even real? Probably not. Though FFS he has the best ROM of any of the Storm Shadows! He's engineered better than the others!)

You don't have to lie to make Hasbro feel better.
Doc HATES all Storm Shadow options. And that is unacceptable. Since clearly Hasbro doesn't care that -I- hate them all.
