It Was 60 Years Ago Today ....

That a Charlie Brown Christmas first aired on CBS. I was a mere seven years old, but I still remember that night and I remember how much I loved that special.

A Charlie Brown Christmas, a show that CBS execs were sure was going to bomb (They almost didn't air it) proved to be a ratings blockbuster that reached 15 million households. Who knew that a Christmas cartoon that featured a jazz soundtrack, a cast made up entirely of children (most of them amateurs) and had such a simple style of animation could prove to be such a huge hit? No one, that's who! But it was. It was a Peabody and Emmy awards winner and has become a holiday staple. Peanuts creator Charles “Sparky” Schulz and TV producer Lee Mendelson went on to create a whole series of Peanuts specials over the course of several years.

Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! And happy anniversary. Thanks for the great memories.

So as was posted earlier, the next Marvel/DC crossover will be Superman/Spider-Man, produced by DC Comics and in stores on March 25th, 2026. Mark Waid will write it and Jorge Jimenez will do the art. Brainiac and Doctor Octopus will be the villains. It will be followed by Spider-Man/Superman, produced by Marvel Comics, in April.

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the first Marvel and DC crossover, Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man, released in 1976.

My two cents is that Spiderman/batman would be more fun.

I read the first issue of the Black Panther Imperial tie-in and was jarred to find internal T'Challa monologue. I don't know that I've ever read that before. Priest making Ross the POV character/narrator and BP almost an inscrutible force of nature apparently really stuck with me for decades.
Imperial straight up I find super boring. Literally the comic I open if I w
That's pretty much exactly what the Superman 'Triangle' era of the 90s was, each week's issue of the ongoing story was simply titled differently.

Final Crisis is the single-worst entertainment experience in *any* creative medium, since fire was mastered. I've read that worthless pile of shit FIVE goddamned times and I can't even tell you the villain or the plotline. Morrison is a worthless writer without an editor that will tell him, 'NO, Grant, that's fucking stupid' on the regular. His JLA run was fun, but Grant Morrison hasn't written anything worth reading since the Invisibles.
iirc Spiderman had an era like that too as did Batman in the 90s around the time of Knightfall.

I loved triangle era Superman tbh.

Seems on schedule for another Marvel vs. DC or Amalgam revisiting the way Marvel keeps going back to the well on Age of Apocalypse and Batman seems to run back to a Frank Miller "extreme" every few years.

Sold my comic collection long ago, but I'm building up a pretty good TPB collection. I'd like to use Amazon less, despite finding good deals there. Can anyone recommend a good alternative online avenue for TPBs at a decent price?

This is what my Omni and Trade collecting friend swears by:

They are legit as he spends hundreds every week for years and I have also pulled some smaller orders.

I wanted to circle back and give a second round of thanks to you. I've spent an embarrassing amount of money on these two sites over the last week, but the bang for my buck is vast. Time to reinforce my shelves for all the incoming omnibuses and HCs/TPBs.

That's rad. You're welcome.

My buddy has a carpenter who makes custom shelves for his tomes.

I am a huge fan of the Omnibuses/Omniboo, and pretty much all the titles I read as a kid and teen have been collected in hardcover by now.

And not joking, they are heavy which is sometimes not best for actual reading, and the first shelves I put them on warped from the weight...so have had to use thicker wood.

That is awesome- wish I had someone like that (or more woodworking skills than I currently possess - none).

Yeah, I legit worry about my shelves- I'm literally getting some plywood cut to size to reinforce them lol.
