What is the rarest figure you own?

Some random things from my collection that come to mind (do prototypes count?):
  • The wax sculpt prototype of the unreleased DC Direct comic book Watchmen Silk Spectre from Tim Bruckner.
  • A test shot of the unreleased Simon Baz from the Mattel DC Multiverse line.
  • The unreleased Guardian figure from the Mattel 6" Young Justice line. I don't know how rare this one is, I thing some made it out of the factory.
  • A carded naked Cheetah from Mattel's DC Universe.
  • A complete, loose set of Kenner Super Powers figures (figures, vehicles, playset), except the Justice Jogger.
  • Palisades Sesame Street Grover x2 (one dressed as Grover Kent, one as Super Grover).
  • Playmates Star Trek TNG Red Data
  • Exclusive Premier Babylon 5 Shadow Sentient

Probably speaks to what kind of collector I am that I genuinely don't have a clue, most of the time, if any of my figures are rare or worth any money. It only comes up when I'm doing a purge and need to get an idea of what I can sell stuff for (and mostly it's just to make sure I'm not asking 15 dollars for some Star Wars figure that now only goes for 5).
The only figure I can think of that might be 'rare' in my collection is Darvold.

It's a Megalopolis-exclusive repaint of the Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian HACKS fantasy line's elf ranger in Megalopolis colors. Being a store-specific exclusive from a smaller company for an in-house line makes me assume it was made in fairly limited numbers. And when I tried to figure out what it was going for these days, I couldn't even find anyone selling one and only two showed up at all on completed listings.

Not to say it's worth a ton of money or anything. But it does seem to be fairly rare.

I'm sorta the same way. Only vaguely aware of some of their value here and there. Generally when I'm purging or in the rare occasion paying significantly more than I should for something.

Thinking about it I don't know that I have anything that is "rare" per se. I have a bunch of stuff that is high value, but nothing that I would say is hard to find/rare.

I mean I have the Hot Toys Hulkbusters (V1 and V2). Those are not really rare, but they are expensive. Same could be said for a lot of bigger items in my collection (Haslabs, vehicles). Figure-wise I don't really have much that is super valuable or rare. Mostly because if they are I generally sell them off and use the funds to get more stuff.

Like some of you have said I kind of just fall into "rarity" through general collecting. Sometimes we just get lucky right? Or we just collect long enough to have something rare or valuable because of the secondary market. Some things I can see right now:

MOTU Origins Faker & Duplicat exclusive
GI Joe Eagle Hawk (Tomahawk redo)
Different Haslabs
A pretty close to complete, including exclusives, set of Star Wars Titanium ships (from the original run and the second run). Don't think I am missing anything outside of slight paint difference examples (from production, not actual different versions of a ship).
All the original (numbered) Eaglemoss Star Trek Collection ships (#1-#180, just missing #180) plus a whole bunch of the exclusives and other offerings.

So while I am aware of the value of specific items in my collection, I don't know that I have anything that is rare, or hard to find. Just expensive.

In terms of monetary value, I couldn’t answer. Not even completely sure of rarity, but some of my more curious acquisitions include:
Galoob’s Ultraforce chase variant figures (carded)
Classified PD Destro
Shi and Tomoe 6” action figures
Monty Python..Holy Grail 12” figures
Palisades “Adventure” Kermit
Palisades Jim Henson Muppets figure
(Formally) the mail away Kenner Bossk figure
the Toybiz Burger King exclusive Uruk-Hai

Vintage GI Joe Hardtop and Payload. These two came with the Defiant Space Shuttle. They are both in good condition and both complete with their file cards. I don't have the space shuttle though.

Monty Python..Holy Grail 12” figures
Oh are these rare? The don't age very well. Lots of loose joints and small tears and breaks. I have them all and they've been on the chopping block for years. Lucky they are on the highest shelf. Will say they have great headsculpts. Surprised NECA never got the license for 7" ones.

As I said, I can’t speak to the rarity or not, but they’re gems to my personal collection. I know there were variations of the main characters done (clean and “muddy”) but I haven’t looked into any questions of rarity.

“Figure” specifically right? We’re not counting playsets or vehicles?

If we include sets I’d have to mention that super 7 cats lair

Also my minty complete cobra terrordrome with firebat.

I really don't know for sure what my rarest figures are, but the ones that come to mind as "please don't ever let me break or damage these cos I can't pay to replace them:
  • Adamonn and Keltuss, the MOTU homages from Mythic Legions. I got them at a bargain but I don't even want to know what they'd cost to replace now
  • The two Max Factory Ghost in the Shell figures, Motoku and Batou - I know I could find replacements but they're pricy these days.
  • And then there's Galactus from Haslabs but I don't know if that counts as rare or just bloody expensive.

I don't currently own him but back when Loyal Subjects was doing blind box MOTU I pulled a Club 28 Wundar. Only 28 of them in existence. He had been sitting on the shelf at Hot Topic for months and I finally bought the box and opened it. Most exciting moment of my figure life. That said I cared nothing about Wundar and entertained offers on a Loyal Subjects collector group and a guy straight up offered me $1,000 for him so I sold him.

I then used a big part of that money to buy a vintage Cat's Lair which are pretty hard to come by now.
