G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

Muskrat is someone I feel like Doc and I discussed a tiny bit. Basically, I fling so much shit at Doc while he is busy doing the real work heh.

Mostly I skip figures who haven't hit Classified yet because writing these makes me want to start trying to make a custom! I really need a custom Scoop. Maybe I can make one of the greenshirts into him with some of the camera gear from Lady Jaye? Scoop was one I broke my rules for though specifically because I'm an ex-reporter like he is and I know what kind of shenanigans I'd myself want to get up to!

I referenced Muskrat running guns with Gung-Ho through the Bayou but I do need to do a card for him soon. He's an old favorite (and on my top ten in the wishlist thread).

You've gotta do characters with no figure yet every now and then though, especially if you have something cooking.
And then I do one like Interrogator and now he ends up in my top ten list too!

I also just looked at the list of links Justice has on the first post of this thread and was like "holy crap we've done a LOT so far."

Just got all caught up on reading, but still have to catch up on updating the table of contents.

Love Snowjob and Beachhead's file cards especially.

Also, I know it's mostly been the Joes so far. But no file card for Major Bludd? That metal arm and fucked up eye have to tell a story. Plus, he's a bitchin' figure.

I actually know exactly what Bludd's up to--I've been stingy on baddies so far, admittedly. I keep meaning to sit down and do his because he's up to some bulllllshit out there in this timeline.

Really appreciate you doing that list - and Beachhead is kinda one of my favorites too because it flips expectations on its head from what people think of him (on purpose, I have a very different version of Wayne Sneeden in my brain than existing media make him), and I swear Snowjob was the hardest one to write because he's such a unique character. That was one I wrestled with a LOT.

Yeah! You hit thirty today I think, and I hit twenty.
I just shot you a link with the text of each file in it for you to edit from - Short-Fuze was NUMBER 31!!!! It's funny, dropping it into a better viewable file I'm now mad at myself for weird formatting things like not always capitalizing Disavowed and using filename/ file name inconsistently.

Nice! I also can't wait to see.

Thank you, it's wonderful, and damnit you're right... I'd missed Torpedo somehow. I definitely read his, just hadn't saved him.

Haw, well if it's any consolation that doesn't disqualify you from working for Hasbro!

Code Name: Major Bludd (General)
File Name, Bludd, Sebastian
Primary Military Specialty: Terrorist
Secondary Military Specialty: Weapons and Tactics
Birthplace: Sydney, Australia
Grade: O-6

When Rexford Lewis began his campaign for president, Cobra Commander needed to distance himself from the Cobra organization, at least visibly and on paper. Major Bludd currently maintains command of a sort of proto-Cobra military force with bases on Cobra Island as well as in Myanmar and Sudan, and outposts in Lebanon and Belarus. The choice was based in part on skill, but also due to Bludd's record - a wanted war criminal in most of the world, Major Bludd simply is not welcome on American soil, with or without Lewis's blessing. Bludd has begun to self-style himself as a General though most still simply call him Major. The intent is for Bludd, one of the world's best and most lethal military minds, to act as a knife prepared to cut down any threat to the Lewis administration should Lewis's control over the U.S. military falter. Privately, many members of the administration - including Lewis himself - worry that Bludd will commandeer the mercenary force for himself, and in fact some cracks in the relationship have started to form as Bludd engaged in unsanctioned mercenary action in Yemen, Syria, and Sierra Gordo in recent months. His men are paid well and loyal to him, which is a growing concern for Lewis, who remains distant from his private forces by necessity.

"People underestimate Bludd, and that is by design. The man has delusions of grandeur - clearly he does, he writes poetry for pity's sake - and he masks his ambition behind a reputation of blood, violence, and barbarism. The fact remains he is a genius in the field, and while he stood in Cobra Commander's shadow, his reputation amongst Cobra's disaffected and angry troops was not fully realized. Now, Cobra Commander has foolishly let the man step fully into the light, and his men see him not only as a great leader, but as one of them in ways Cobra Commander never could be - Bludd leads from the front, risking life and limb for war and profit just as they do. This may prove to be a fatal mistake on Lewis's part should he not be able to wrest control of Cobra back from Bludd's stewardship."

Note from Baroness's intelligence report to Destro: "In the end, Bludd can always be bought. Two years ago I would say that MARS could afford his pound of flesh. Should Lewis be able to push the bribe money through Senate Appropriations under the guise of something that is not blood money to a mercenary army, America can always find more money. But it is worth keeping an eye on his going price. For what it's worth - he respects you, the way an attack dog knows a hand that will feed it."

This is fucking great. I don't know what it's called when you get real excited for name-dropping of a bunch of place names but I have that.

I love where you took Bludd. The idea of someone who works for CC but whose men are kinda likely to side with him over CC if it comes to that is so great. The second part is icing, and the last part kicked it into a different metaphor heh. I dunno man, I keep thinking "this is my favorite now" the deeper we get, and did again now. Just loving the development.

Yeah, that's pretty perfect. I never cared for Bludd at all prior to literally several weeks ago (or two months ago?) when I bought the Classified figure just because it looked so badass. Now I'm a believer. I might actually have to start moving some of my Classified figures into a separate "Disavowed" shelf.

Working on B-names, just want to point out there's no file card for possibly Classified's best figure of the year: Budo.

Budo has been staring at me from the shelf for two weeks guilting me into writing one of these for him. I actually think it's going to take inspration from the figure, the transition from clean cut and pristinely armored to disheveled man in a street fight.

I hated Bludd in the cartoon because he was so goofy, liked him better in the comics because he was darker, but the Classified Bludd just LOOKS like a killer. That face sculpt is a man who has big plans and doesn't care who he needs to garrote to get there.

I might actually have to start moving some of my Classified figures into a separate "Disavowed" shelf.
Before I started writing these up I was toying with "Joes vs. Alien/Predator" setups on my shelf, but now I think I need to do a Disavowed one. I swapped out General Hawk for the O13 version like he dyed his hair blond to hide on the run, pulled his old gear on and was like "heh... still fits. Let's move."
