Marvel Legends Gamerverse

I suppose I didn't realize that Cap/Venom set was even coming to Target when I bought it, or I would have waited for a sale like this. Hasbro barraged me with too many toys at once hoping I'd slip up and they were right.

I try not to obsess over the past on pricing anymore. I just make a list of "sorta want" figures and hold it for Nov-Dec for sales and see how it goes. Stuff that's obviously not gonna move like High Evolutionary and the like I can justify at $8, which makes up for blowing it on the stuff I really want.

I just try to keep it simple. If something is worth it to me I just buy it. If it goes on sale somewhere down the line then so what? I was fine with paying the ask and got to start enjoying the release immediately. If something isn’t worth it to then I don’t buy it and see if the price comes to me. If it does, awesome, and if not well then I probably didn’t need it anyway. Cap/Venom was a perfect release to pass on initially because while I liked the look of each, neither was a must have for one reason or another. With the price coming way down suddenly it was more up my alley and I’m happy to have the set in my collection. Now let’s see if Juggernaut wants to come down.

Never heard of Kith. I’d get palette swaps of War Machine and Modular Armor Iron Man.

I'm STILL sitting on the extra Odin I bought just hoping to get back what I paid for the first one. And I super resent the entire figure because of it.

Point: I wish it was easier to keep track of what's coming where and when Fan Channel actually means only Fan Channel.

I think his chest is painted darker blue so it kinda looks like he's wearing a tummy top.

So I think, predominantly, most on the forum think this is just really, really stupid. However, there is an entire subset of the collector community (I see them on Instagram) that could NOT be happier with this. One guy I follow for Legends is one of them, and describes the fan base as 'Hype Beast World' - as opposed to 'Collector World.' I don't know what a Hype Beast is... but... I think I have some idea.
Huh, I never thought of it like that but I also abstain from Instagram toy world, which made me recoil immediately and keep my boundary on YouTube, which also sucks vs here.

Anyway. Hypebeast is old street slang for street wear people who get all the shoes and lids and shirts for clout and prestige, as opposed to a legit personal taste. It's a huge flex because most of that is limited drops and stupidly priced, so you're just showing you've got the money and the means.

Supreme is probably the McDonald's touchstone I can make for this. Jordans, Air Force Ones. Caps you keep the stickers and tags on.

Lol I never really thought about it before, but I suspect the forums are mostly the old white guy demographic, where Instagram Fandom is very diverse. Maybe I'm wrong there. It was just crazy to me seeing all the ACBA stuff with heavy, heavy hip hop vibe and influence. Honestly, its kinda funny to me seeing people who are like... hard about action figures. To me, its just the nerdiest shit, so to act like it's a serious culture is very, very funny.

I’m always pleasantly surprised how diverse it is at comics conventions and comic shops for people actually buying comics and action figures.

I’m totally a nerdy 40-year-old white guy, though.

I do follow a lot of makers, X-Plus model collectors and hot toys collectors and statue collectors on instagram so the exclusivity culture is great for mining content form action figure influencers and enthusiasts. The thing is though when it comes to action figure collectors, they still buy the things they want, not because they are in it for the clout but because they are still at heart lifelong fans and want to curate a collection

Now I have the old Boog Nice intro rap in my head.

I'm also getting the sense that MSRP for these figures isn't a thing and you could be looking at some very interesting prices when they officially drop.

How bad do you want a shield blast effect with KITH printed on it? Do you want it $150 bad enough???

I suspect a lot of collectors who think these are basic exclusive repaints (of not even comic accurate colors!) with a logo *they’ve* never heard of slapped on them are in for a rude awakening when they see the price AND they sellout in minutes… like no way in fucking hell are these $30, if you thought a magic card artificially inflated a price wait till you see what that logo does!

I do kinda of want the Ryu though… pop Ken’s head on him for a “Hype Beast Drip” variant, but I think the joke gets less funnier the more the price tag goes… like $80 HILLARIOUS! $100 eh, fine… the actual price, what am I even doing here?!

I also think it’s funny seeing people acting as if Jada and Hasbro are working together on this and what *that* could mean going forward, like no dudes, KITH paid them for exclusives, in that respect Jada and Hasbro have been teaming up for years since you could wander into Target and pick up a Ryu and Captain America together at the same time…
