Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

Wow... I love the New Eternia Leech figure. Its one of my favorite recent Masterverse figures. I love that he isn't super wide and don't feel like he needs to be large - leeches aren't big critters, after all.
Not to be "that" guy, but I don't think the Masterverse Leech is a New Eternia version. I think it was just part of the Princess of Power subline. So you may get to have your cake at the same time Justice gets his! And personally, my favorite Leech design is the unused one from the Netflix CG show...

I took a pause before typing out New Eternia Leech because I wasn't even sure if he had that branding. You are right though, the package does have the Princess of Power logo. Have there been any figures from PoP that were branded with New Eternia or New Etheria?

To be honest, I'm not perfectly certain which characters are considered She-Ra and He-Man characters necessarily. But I do think the latest She-Ra figure was the first one to be branded New Etheria and all the previous ones (Leech, Hordak, She-Ra, Grizzlor, Shadow Weaver, etc) were branded Princess of Power. And the upcoming Hordak is the second New Etheria figure, in theory.

I wonder if it has to do with licensing fees? Maybe it’s cheaper to do crossovers with the smaller scale figures?

I mean, I feel like it almost certainly has to do with Masterverse figures being more expensive to make. But knowing the TMNT license, it probably also has to do with scale allowances and price points they can use. Like probably Playmates has the license for making TMNT "toys" in this scale (while NECA has it for Collectibles). Even though some figures like ToG Krang are certainly close to the size of Masterverse figures. Who knows.

Right now I'm more interested in a review of the figures than the figures themselves. I'm lukewarm on this preorder. Not in love with the She-Ra design, but that's also how I felt about NE Evil-Lyn, and she turned out great. I have less attachment to Ninjor, never loved his concept, too Earth-inspired. I always thought this puffy build was too much for a ninja too. Now Terror Claws Skeletor was one of my favorite vintage designs, mostly thanks to the gloves. But I think this version, based on pics, took the redesign a few steps too far. Not in love just yet. But looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

I love the way the new Terror Claws Skeletor's gloves are broken up between the hand and wrist so he can still use his wrist articulation. Digging how the claws are just his new hands, hopefully they don't bend/loosen over time with the marbled plastic.

Side-note, the one time I go with Amazon instead of EE, EE ships first. 😭

My biggest point of excitement will be to see what TC Skelly looks like without the (presumably removable) translucent visor. The promo photos rarely show all the configurations and details in the New Eternia figures.

I was really curious about that visor too. I hope it is removable. I also was wondering what the head from the vintage collection Skeletor would look like on the Terror Claws figure.

Speaking of Skeletor variants, I wonder how long until we get Dragon Blaster Skeletor in New Eternia style in the Masterverse line. DB Skeletor is always a favorite of mine. I love the little red Dragon with him. The MOTU Classics version was amazing! So, I can't wait to see how they handle it in this line.

Dragon Blast Skeletor is still one of the holes in my Classics collection. Going for about $100 BIN.
