Same. I don't even really have a big problem with her. Like I said yesterday, I'd still like for a more clear vision to be at the helm, but if she can accomplish that, great. Bonus points for pissing off the fans who hate her just for gender reasons.
I do think waiting 3 weeks to finish it could've made it feel like it dragged a bit
Agreed. I really need to rewatch season one in three episode bursts. I didn't feel the season dragged quite so much, but the pacing probably could have been enhanced that way. Really glad they're doing it like this.
Everything else was great, though, and unfortunately timely (whether it was planned that way or a happy accident, or a bit of both, I'm not sure)
Seriously. I even started out watching the 'previously on' recap for season one they have on there, which was sooooo well edited. Having that manifesto narrating so much added a shitload. Inspiring like crazy. I couldn't recommend that recap enough.
it's tech that's totally foreign to him, so he wouldn't be able to just jump in and perfectly pilot it
Yes, that was well done. And is this the first time someone said 'shit' in a galaxy far far away?
I'm really loving the stuff with Mon
I actually am too. Her bits were the ones I was least interested in with the first season. Not disinterested, just least. I never would have thought a three day wedding would have kept my interest so well though. Of course it's all the stuff going on beneath the surface that's the point/enthralling, but still. She was fantastic, agreed.
Syril continues to be a total pushover
His bits continue to be the ones I'm not as into. The dinner part was the only time I picked up my phone during the three episodes.
The stuff with Bix was quite heavy; that poor girl just can't catch a break
SERIOUSLY. But yeah, very well done. The Imperial officer actor did a really great job as well, but everyone else just added to the tension so heavily. I even appreciate the 'young people sneaking off to makeout' bit wasn't over played.
I'm quite surprised that Disney allowed them to even go as far as they did with some things
I guess I am too, now that you mention it. As soon as I saw Imperials sitting at a table talking about how to solve the Ghorman problem, I thought of Conspiracy, the HBO movie about the Nazis gathering to come up with the final solution. And I think they did a good job of encapsulating that idea while definitely making it chilling. The marketing execs were a great touch.
I haven't done a whole lot of looking to see what fans think of the episodes, but I can see them being divisive
Yeah, and I'm not gonna. Perfectly content keeping to this safe space for star war discussions, heh.
There was more humor- or at least a slightly lighter tone
True. And honestly, until they started shooting each other, I found the bickering rebels amusing.
the dance scene at the end of 3, which I actually found to be quite powerful, I can see ruffling some feathers
I'm sure. Dancing is lame and for girls. Star Wars is for boys, etc. But yeah, the music and the editing of her losing herself in that moment with the fate of what's his name speeding off into the distance was gripping as hell.
