General Marvel Legends

I think the MCU raised both characters' profiles enough you could pair them with any GOTG or adjacent character. I mean, they can't be less well-known than Starfox and Champion - and that's not a knock on that two-pack.

Quite possible, yes. So I'd say more likely.

For the Collector, Korvac would be cool. And even though he didn't create those two characters, a Collector/Korvac two pack would be a nice tribute to the late Jim Shooter, I think.

Grandmaster? Well, this may be problematic because of rights issues, but Hardcase from the Ultraforce/Avengers crossover would be cool. Yes, Marvel has the rights to the Ultraverse characters, but ... there are apparently issues with contracts to creators and royalties that would have to be paid. So we should not hold our collective breath waiting for any of the Malibu characters.

Other than that, the only other option I can think of for the Grandmaster in a two pack would be another Elder of the Universe, one of his brothers like the Gardner or the Possessor. Or maybe a sister like Lady Carina Korvac.
Alternatively one could use the Scarlet Centurion.

Grandmaster and Collector have much bigger profiles now thanks to the MCU. And Grandmaster has a comic accurate look as the main character bringing heroes together in one of the Marvel mobile games, I believe.
Given my championing for anything JLA/Avengers, Grandmaster is one that I'd love to have.

Maybe he could come with the Evil Eye...

Catching up on the reveals…

Count me in as one waiting for the classic winged Deathbird - I might have sprung for her as a single pack, but the repeat figure tax rules her out.

On which note, I don’t think enough fuss is being made over the Starfox/Champion set having 2 entirely new to 6 inch comic characters in it and nary a rehash. Given how used we are to re-dos (both welcome and unwelcome), that’s seriously awesome. I had a bit of a look and about the only other examples I can find in recent years are Mr Negative / Demon Henchman (and the latter isn’t really a distinct character) or the Franklin / Valeria pack (and you could discount that if you’re counting the old Toybiz Franklin pack-in).

Top detective work on the Slyde guess! Really hope that pans out. I was really bummed out when the Internet decided to discount that particular leak, so hopefully he’s on for real this time (along with Princess Python, Owl, Hypno Hustler and Cardiac).

You're completely right about this. Getting Starfox and Champion in a single set is fantastic and should be celebrated more. To your comparison question:
  • Nighthawk/Blur would count, since that Nighthawk is his own character.
  • Crystal/Lockjaw
Drax/Moondragon I'd put in a similar category - while not technically Drax's first comic figure, it was his first non-modern figure, and worth calling out as a great pairing.

Did anyone here buy the recent X-Factor Cyclops & not want to build Nemesis?

I need the arm & hose that comes with him, but don't want the Cyclops, lol.

I’m your man. That arm and hose have just been sitting in my random BaF parts since I got Cyclops.

I’m nitpicky enough not to count Drax, but you’re absolutely right about Crystal/Lockjaw, and I’m kicking myself!

Watching it after watching the highlight clip on the EoV.

This is very much an autistic me thing, but even trying to keep it straight and cordial, there is like a smug meanness to everything. It just rubs me wrong. It's like even if they invited me over for beers and wanted to include me in their poker game, and they were nice to me, there's cynical and fake veneer going on that just makes me actively recoil and not want to be around it.

Ryan even came out defensive about their reputation for shit talking Hasbro, which they leaned into as "jokes".

Bobby is just sitting there, choosing to be quiet and enjoy this as a viewer. But the way he said he's just enjoying watching Ryan and he could chime in but he won't, clearly he's got some sort of contrary opinions he'd love to jump in on, but for whatever reason decides to act like he's above it. While still letting us know. Things like that.

Then you've got the crowd with guys like Talker Art.

But purely on an information session. It just reminds me of how tuned in I am to the hobby and how tuned out a lot of people I expect to be are not. Which we've discussed this about influencers in general before.

Like talker art towards the end, which is when that above video links to, paid for a super chat to ask about why Ryan keeps talking about taking things up the chain, who is up the chain? Do you not know that man? Do you not know how businesses work? It was not some revelatory gotcha.

I guess the standout would be are has lab tiers baked in. He says yes and no, but it leans more no. Business math, in short.

I dunno. It's honestly not interesting or revelatory so far.

Feel like you could go read a Damien or Rick post and you already know how Hasbro and toys works.

If Bobby is not going to weigh in and have a discussion, then what's the point? Two Hasbro and industry talents and no discussion? Alright.
