U.S. Politics

The only certainty arising from yesterday is that the fascist conservative party will continue to enact its violent, fascist, policies with zero basis in reality aside from whatever spills from the mouth of their beloved leader. The only question is will enough Democrats stand up and call them out on their bullshit or will the party bow down and roll out the red carpet of appeasement?

Good on the Democrats for not goin along with that charade.
Can't read because I'm not a member. Is it about her trying to do a prayer in session? https://www.aol.com/articles/house-dems-shout-no-boebert-220932384.html That got shut down as it should be. When was the last time they did a prayer in the chamber for a school shooting where innocent kids were shot and killed? Fuck that.

While I couldn't stand Kirk, at all, I never wished for his death, even though he broke Freedom of Speech limitations all the time with hate speech and defamation. He was still a husband, and more importantly, a father. I feel for his kids who are too young to have any true idea why their Dad is dead. Not so much for his wife. She knew who she married. Though again, I don't condone killing someone for their shitty views.

I do wonder if he could see his dead body, if his views on what he said about the 2nd ammendment would still ring true for him.

My takeaway from all of this was if Kirk hadn't made a career of spreading hate and intolerance then he would still be alive and well.

I'm not even sure how many of the far right believe the gospel they preach. I think for many of them they know that that side is where there is money to be made with grifting the gullible.

Again and again I'll say nobody should ever have to die in gunfire. But there is a special kind of karmic balance when someone says we should be prepared to make sacrifices to gun violence (and then becoming one), saying empathy is a mistake (and receiving no empathy from many for his suffering), giving a bullshit answer on mass shootings when he was shot, while sitting under a banner that says prove me wrong. Nobody should ever die of gun violence, but sometimes you play in traffic and you get run over by a car, and that is sad, but it doesn't make you less of a fucking fool.

This is seriously the bottom line.

Reminds me of this gem. A lion tamer can't beat a lion into submission and not expect the lion to lash out one day.

Boebert, Rep from Colorado, calling for a moment of prayer for Kirk while 4 students were shot in her state on the same frickin' day is a disgrace. I mean, she already was a disgrace, but now moreso. While she's best known for giving handies at plays, always remember this is the woman that had to move districts to remain in power. Her first district was so sick of her shit they turned blue.

His kids are 3 and 1, if I understand correctly. They are so young that they might not remember any of the horror of this in the long run. And as heartless as it is to say, I think those children will probably be better off without that monster as a patriarchal authority figure in their lives.
