We had a small hoops community on Fwoosh. I hope that continues over here.

We're getting into the meat and potatoes of basketball season. Final Four action on Saturday and the NBA playoffs right around the corner.

I'm not sure how to feel about college sports anymore. I'm thrilled that the players are being paid. The transfer portal has gotten out of hand, and the non-regional conferences are insane. It's a shame that the transfer portal seems to have neutered mid-majors, but it's nice that we'll get the highest-level play in the Final Four.

It's the perfect combination of senior-led teams and freshman/NBA prospect-led teams.

Mavericks unlikely to be anywhere near the playoffs for years to come. I suppose 2 years from now if everything goes right healthwise with Irving and Davis they might sniff a 1st round exit.

The AAUification of college sports has been pretty gross. All for them being paid.

Good games tonight. I think you could make the case that both Duke and Auburn blew it down the stretch.

As an NBA fan first, oof. Houston's last three possessions all ended in a turnover.

I'm also a lifelong Gator hater. Rough night for me.

yeah the whole game reminded me why I watch pros the most. Just the lack of offensive playmaking was painful. I'm from the Houston area so doubly painful for me I suppose. If nothing else wanted something good for Kelvin Sampson.

I've never said this about any sports league before: the NBA needs to expand. I think at least three teams that could've made the Conference Finals in another year (DET, MIN, DEN) are going to be eliminated in the first round. The playoffs are going to be awesome, though.

I have no feel for the Western Conference matchups. I think there's a good chance I picked incorrectly in three of them (excluding OKC obviously).

CLE in 5
BOS in 5
NYK in 6
IND in 6

OKC in 4
GS in 6
LAL in 7
LAC in 7

The playoffs should be exciting, but as Seattleite, I'm absolutely miserable thinking about the start of OKC's likely dynasty. It makes me sick to my stomach.

My Finals pick is OKC over BOS in 6.

There is no way the NBA isn’t going to do everything it can to have GSW vs LAL in the second round. Lotta whistles going to be blowing.

I mean the Warriors are a pretty great story... one last title push for Steph and what might be Butlers last best chance at a ring... up against LeBron's last stand with young gun Luka. It sells itself.

As an unabashed Warriors fan I am hoping they cang et on an epic hot streak and ride it all the way to one more ring.

I know its improbable gIven how much better Cleveland and OKC have been than the rest of the field... but I'll still hope.

I hope Clay Bennett never wins a title while he's the owner. Crummy weasel stole the Sonics :(

I had no feel for the Wolves and Nuggets going into the playoffs. I think the Wolves are one of the only teams in the Western Conference that could give OKC a run for their money. I'm not counting LeBron, Luka, and Reeves out of a series until it's over, but today is exactly what I was afraid of when I picked them. They lack size and the Wolves are still a great defensive team when they want to be.

I won't beat myself up if the Nuggets go on to beat the Clippers. Outside of Jokic, that roster is really bad. I mean, they rely on a 36-year-old Russell Westbrook. Like, seriously rely on him. Between that and Kawhi's health issues, it's an extremely difficult series to call.

Golden State/Houston will be interesting tomorrow. I could see the Warriors beating them in crunch time every game and I could see the Rockets out-athleting the Warriors in every game. My guess is a combination of the two in a long series where veteran savvy eventually sees GS through.
