Ponderous
Finally saw Superman. I thought the first half was...not good, but the second half was fantastic.
I got to see him conduct a few times over the years at his concerts in Tanglewood and the Kennedy Center. I don't remember exactly if the Superman theme was one of the ones he did (by that point, he'd sometimes split conducting duties because of his age), but the crowd definitely went wild when it came on. I did, however, get to see him conduct the Jurassic Park theme, and I may or may not have gotten teary-eyed the first time. That might be my favorite piece of Williams' music, and as you all know, that's saying something.
I thought the same thing when I saw your post in the One a Day thread yesterday. "How ridiculously on brand."I know I probably sound like the Press Secretary of Vampire Affairs at this point, but Williams’ score for John Badham’s 1979 Dracula film with Frank Langella and Sir Lawrence Olivier is an underheard masterpiece. I don’t know if it’s the *best* Williams piece, but it’s certainly a contender.
This. I like this.having Hawkgirl do what she does at the end, hell yeah. If only someone would in real life but I digress.
Same here, it's really weird as I'm generally clued up pretty well on most Marvel and DC characters but this guy was a complete surprise to me. At first I thought he must be some rando Wildstorm character Jim Lee brought with him when he sold up to DC but apparently not, he first showed up in the Spectre or Question or something. It's possibly been one of the best introductions to a character in ages, he owned the screen every second he was on it.Terrific definitely was a major standout, and I think the only character in the movie I had no knowledge of.
I have nothing to add beyond YESSSS!!!Same here, it's really weird as I'm generally clued up pretty well on most Marvel and DC characters but this guy was a complete surprise to me. Agreed. And I had a completely bizarre laugh that for some reason I was partly holding in when he said "Superman can't make it, so you got an upgrade". He is such a prick but I love Guy. I really really hope Batman punches him in the face! hee hee hee.Special mention also to Guy taking out waves of tanks with giant middle fingers, it was extremely cathartic.
I get what you mean..I guess I took it as he keeps committing harder and harder to this goal that he becomes blinder and blinder to all else, no longer even thinking about consequences or what will happen after etc.Another thing I kinda struggled with was Lex. I get he's a bitter and massively resentful monstrous prick, I do but even so...
