Pete and Samhain arrived today. I'm glad I'm not an in-box guy because the box was pretty beat up. Oh well. I'm just going to echo what most have already said. The sculpt and paint are fantastic. The detail work, especially on the proton pack, is just so well executed at this scale and there's a very animated look to these guys. The articulation though is pretty much shit. Elbows, wrists, and ankles are fine, but the knees, hips, head, and waist are pretty basic. The little butterfly they tried to integrate basically doesn't do anything. Nothing is stiff or loose though so that's good, though Samhain's limbs are a little close to being loose. I'm hopeful that doesn't degrade over time. He also can't really do much. Slimer looks great, but the arms just swivel. I'm surprised they didn't at least work a hinge in there.
The price obviously is what it is. This set isn't worth $202, but it's still possible to be happy to have it even if it costs too much. I wish there was more in the box. More hands for Pete, another expression, extra arms for Slimer and a taller stand. I do worry a little about the hard plastic components on the proton pack, in particular the holster for the wand which I'm almost terrified to interact with. Definitely do not put this guy near the edge of a shelf, though he seems plenty stable. Samhain will never topple. As autumn approaches, I'll have to find a place to display these guys for the season and then when it's over decide where to put them for the rest of the year. I don't really want to return them to the box so I'll have to get creative.
