Marvel Legends Gamerverse

The thing they needed to fix about Storm was that literally every part of her body was out of proportion with the next. The capes and heads were incredibly well done, but the whole body just looks so awkward next to a lot of the other female body sculpts around.

Are we talking about outback storm or the one in the 2-pack? Because Darkmoon766 was complaining about the brown Wolverine too. Though I think he got the Mafex brown Wolverine mixed up with the upcoming marvel legends version

Oh, you're right - sorry. I was talking Outback Storm and he was talking two-pack.

I agree - Storm's black midriff costume needed a resculpt. Her arms are awful, her chest is out of proportion, her heads were huge, her feet eh - definitely a bad sculpt.

That’s my issue with a lot of Mafex - they’re just too slender. Even Jim Lee’s tank-like take on Batman is pretty slim. It’s not a terrible take on Wolverine, but for 100 bucks (or thereabout) it better be damn near perfect. And that’s why I don’t own much Mafex.

This is close to how I feel, and I do own a fair amount of Mafex. No doubt they're great figures, but I don't feel like I've got "the one" as often as I wish I did with them.

Genuinely, the only Mafex I have ever been really tempted by was Gambit, and if I'd ever seen him at a store or something I probably would have bitten. But chasing down a 200 dollar figure (CAD, after shipping and such) when I already have a version in my collection that I like and goes with the type of stuff I already own? Didn't seem worthwhile.

Gambit is definitely an exception to what I said above. The Mafex Gambit does feel pretty definitive to me, and he's actually what set me off picking up most of the other comic Marvel stuff they've done. Compared to him, it's no wonders the others can feel underwhelming. I'm hoping Iceman comes out feeling similarly definitive.

As a MAFEX-first collector, I'll admit the line varies between all-time great (Gambit), markedly good (Magneto), and worse than the $20 retail version (Psylocke).

Several figures are so good that I have trouble seeing how they'll be surpassed within the next decade:
  • Gambit
  • Daredevil
  • Nightwing
  • DKR Superman (no love for DKR, but I love a chunky Supes)
  • Bane
  • Symbiote Spider-Man
And then the tier below that:
  • Catwoman
  • Captain America
  • Magneto
  • Storm
  • Wolverine
  • Phoenix

I like the Mafex Psylocke. Its not my favorite figure, but it was the best one made in 1/12 till the MvC one that just came out, imo. But there aren't alot of her to choose from. Still, its a good figure. Just really expensive, and honestly, I never thought Hasbro was going to even try with her after the last couple. I wanted something pretty close to definitive and she looked it for me, till this new one. Now both have their places.

I've only ever bought DC Mafex because in the last 15 years the domestic DC stuff has been all over the place. Mattel did DCUC, then they did DC Multiverse which was different stylistically and slightly taller, then Todd did his DC Multiverse, now soon back to Mattel which who knows what those will be like.

My main goal was a nice, uniform set of Reign of Superman figures and that mission has been accomplished. I got Knightfall Bane and Aural Batman as a bonus. Now, with the exception of getting a Kyle Green Lantern and a Parallax, I think I may be good on DC Mafex.

With Hasbro Marvel there has at least been consistency and I've felt that if I'm patient enough a "good enough" version of the figure I want will come along. Mafex Gambit looks incredible but if I put a soft goods coat on my Hasbro Gambit he becomes "good enough". I was THIS CLOSE to buying Mafex Psylocke but now the new Hasbro Psylocke is out and I'm glad I never pulled that trigger.

I just thought of a nice reuse for the gamerverse wolverine. I know everyone has been shouting from the rooftops over a feral bone claw wolverine but hear me out

Corrupted battle damaged Wolverine from X-Men Inferno. Also would love it came with an alternate head that had bright red eyes

I was finally able to secure a Psylocke/Thanos set, although it cost me $82 shipped (via Canada's CMD Store shipped to Iowa). I don't feel good about it but figured I'd better jump on it while I could. $67.99 + $13.99 shipping. Ouch!! I'm mad at myself for wanting this that Psylocke that bad. Now I just have to hope for an opportunity at Shanna from the Savage Land set somehow...

At least CMD got the Psylocke set before the end of the month and we should avoid a de minimis issue. They did up the price by $5 since the preorder. I look at the shipping cost as, "it is what it is".

My closest Target had 3 Psylocke/Thanos sets and second closest 1 set out today. Unsure if these are restocks or original stocks as I've not seen them in store before this, but other reset things have been around.

Also: found Ghost Spidey at the mythical Walmart display.

My 2 closest Targets still haven't done their resets (I check every single day). I caved and paid $82 shipped from CMD Store for Psylocke/Thanos earlier this week, so I'm convinced they'll show up on the shelves locally this weekend now.

I'll check my Walmart for Spirit Spider and Spidey '77! I know that they won't have them. They've never stocked half the stuff people find at other stores.

No Spidey '77 in the display I saw. Did others see him?
Not that I know of, but these were originally listed and supposed to release at the same time. That doesn't mean that is actually what is happening though, of course. However I don't think that I've ever actually seen a walmart exclusive figure at my Walmart, ever. Legends or otherwise.

My Walmart.com order says the 77 Spidey isn’t coming out until the 28th
