Marvel Legends Gamerverse

I genuinely want to know what the fuck is wrong with people.

The existing Wolverine body is actually probably a tad too tall, to be honest. But it's one of those 'I can live with it' things. But the existing Wolverine's eyes line up with the new Wolverine's fucking MOUTH and people are like 'looks like a good size for Wolverine.' I don't even know how to respond to that kind of crackpot lunacy.

I mean, you can like the figure. And it fits in with the video game stuff just fine. No problem. But generally speaking, is that a good size for a 1:12 Wolverine? Absolutely the fuck not. C'mon.

Seriously dude I’m a crackpot because I like a specific toy more than you do? Give me a break. It’s an action figure. Big freaking deal if it’s a little on the large side. It’s the same size as the Mafex Wolverine and the astonishing wolvie and I don’t see people here clamoring for those of us who like those figures to have our heads examined… so just quit your bitching and look for something else to play with.

Easy kids. It's definitely too big and I think most people wish it were a little smaller. We all hope Wolverine doesn't trend bigger. Maybe we drop the temperature a bit. People being OK with this release hopefully won't mean a growing Wolverine problem.

Yeah, it's a good-looking figure, but it is just too big for Logan, and I am definitely cancelling my pre order now. I'm glad you shared that picture. Had I got that in hand and opened it that would have felt like a waste of $60 to me personally.

Don’t ignore the lack of boot swivel in the room.

Couple more pics from Dan Who. Just ridiculous how tall he is. More Select size than Legends scale.

Again I have to post this photo and just ask: why is the figure on the right considered the GOAT but the new legends figure is too tall? Is this just misguided Hasbro bashing or do you all have that big of a problem with scale creep? Because we have been experiencing scale creep since the 90’s. All companies do it. Toy biz did it, so did Mattel, Hasbro, Kenner, McFarlane toys, Bandai figures have gotten larger, Medicom is guilty of it, hell even Storm collectibles is doing it now. The list goes on. In the grand scheme of things, toys get bigger in size and that’s okay. Just accept this Wolverine for what it is. It’s a changing of the guard. Stop comparing it to old metrics. Because if you’re bothered by that, you might as well compare this Wolverine to some of the 5” lines that came and went after 6” became the new gold standard. Hopefully then you’ll understand how silly this argument is.

And if you are just doing this to bash Hasbro but all other companies are cool…grow up…

I'm... going to attempt to get ahead of this before a very passionate and outspoken response I figure you're trying to goad is made.

As far as *Legends* go - Wolverines over the last few years adhered to a fairly consistent but most importantly accepted scale, starting with the Apocalypse BAF wave release. Since then, almost every Wolverine was comparable in size/height. Last year, the Astonishing release came out, and it was clearly a bit taller than these releases, but for the most part acceptable. Some took issue, which is valid, because no one wants Wolverine to be as tall as Cyclops or trending that way. This release is designed to match, apparently, the game sprite which is super beefy, but also a little taller than we might be used to. Fine - people can cancel their pre-orders if this isn't for them, and they are. Between this and the Astonishing release, there is some justifiable concern that the scale of Wolverine is moving up. Now, there have also been like 6 other releases, especially the '97 stuff that is in the accepted scale so the concern is a bit overblown.

Comparing to another line to make your point is... well let's not get too carried away there, because if you are mixing Legends and MAFEX together (I personally do not) then scale may be less of an issue for you. In this case, and I say this as a pretty big defender of the line and Hasbro generally, it would be nice to not see random Wolverines made that are way too tall (again, should not be eye to eye with Gambit or Cyclops). I don't think this release is necessarily indicative that will happen - but with the Astonishing figure there is clearly some new scale for Wolverine that Hasbro does use. That's not great and a valid issue. No one wanted the taller 90s figures, and by the 2000s they started making him more squat. For those alive at that time, ML3 Wolverine was way out of scale (people complained) and it took time for Toy Biz to figure that out. For Hasbro to figure it out, only to then regress to oversized or inconsistent - it's a valid concern and not an example of people just looking for a reason to bitch. I get it... there IS a lot of that. But in this case, if Wolverines trend bigger and taller... that's not great. They already had that licked. And if they make a Maximum figure that's closer in height to Astonishing and Gamerverse... Hasbro will hear about that valid critique.
