I wonder if the promo shot of the loose package contents is the actual size of Wolverine compared to Silver Samurai.

That would appear to be the case since that’s how big they seem to be next to one another in the packaging shot above. If I had to guess I’d say that this wolverine is only a quarter inch taller than the other wolverine figures we typically see. I

He always looked taller to me in the shots, but the entire scale up and comparison is something.

I think this unsold me. I do remember him being larger in the game, but gameplay purposes and hitboxes hold no power over my shelf and desk.

Tbh im not sure where this hit box argument came from or how it gained any traction but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. After all we’ve seen smaller characters in MvC like Mega Man, Tron Bonne and her servebots, SonSon and B.B. Hood. Every single one of those characters come up to wolverines waistline even when he’s crouched. Hell they are so small usually Wolverine is the only one who can effectively combat them. Especially if he has bone claws because they have more reach.

Yeah, it's just some of the copium I've seen on social. He's so fast and Berserker Barrage he needed to be bigger?

All that is lost on me, I just spam IM A MEMBER OF STARS and Viper Beam. No, that's a lie, I Magneto infinite and then no one wants to play.

Like I said earlier I’m kind of using a little bit of canon in the comics to justify how large he is. And it’s because of that secondary mutation he was undergoing in the comics. Even before fatal attractions he was getting bigger and bigger in the comics.not to mention more aggressive. Especially in every issue from Wolverine #50 and beyond. But once once he lost his adamantium, that catalyst pushed him over the edge.

So there is precedent that can be explained to some degree

For sure. I remember Madureira made him a brick.

Figure execution, I agree with the comment he looks like a 1/10 figure against the Legends. But I like 97, Astonishing, SW Brown, the new Brown, and a few others, so this isn't like I'm missing out on my happiness.

True. And the upcoming brown wolvie is just the secret wars figure with just a new head and belt. They didn’t even change the colors

See... even at the time i just thought it was down to the style and ego of the artist and not some actual story reason for Wolverine getting bigger. Most of those stories sucked pretty hard though, so I'm fine not memorializing them with a bigger figure.

Oh the comics were rife with story beats like this in both the X-men titles and the solo Wolverine series between 1991 and 1995. There were moments where Wolverine would have these haunting flashbacks of the Weapon X project and he was afraid that his more bestial side was starting to come back and he’d constantly have tests run on him in the X-Mansion an the danger room and the X-men would notate that he is in fact physically changing. His hair would grow longer, he’d make animalistic cries, he’d tear up machines in the danger room as if he were trying to satiate a bloodlust. Those stories were rife with visceral imagery.

And as far as wolverine’s bigger proportions are concerned, that may have been a stylistic choice, but it could also be interpreted as a sea change in Wolverine was on the horizon. Remember too because behind the scenes at Marvel, the people at the X-Men offices were still having their quarterly meetings and annual retreats to discuss new stories. And it was at one notorious such meeting where Peter David suggested that Wolverine should lose his adamantium and we would learn that he has had bone claws the entire time. This occurred in 1992 so about a year before fatal attractions and X-Men 25 was published.

So there was absolute precedent for Wolverine increased size and his constant bezerker rages were leading to that fateful, cataclysmic event that lead to fatal attractions and the subsequent moment where his bone claws and feral nature would be the new normal for Wolverine from late 1993 all the way to 2001.

That’s because he wasn’t getting bigger at all. He has an adamantium skeleton, which makes it pretty much impossible for him to randomly get taller.

He was getting more unhinged and his berserker rages were more common during the time from X-Men #4-25 as he had found out about his memories being false implants.

He only got bigger when Genesis overloaded his healing factor, resulting in the gigantic feral no-nose bandana Wolverine. That look randomly disappeared and he went back to normal size and look with bone claws within a year.
