Marvel Legends Gamerverse

Dan Yun’s socials have me over a barrel. He keeps posting cryptic messages while using the Gamerverse figures as props and I can’t tell if he’s just subtly hinting that more packs are going to be announced this week or he’s just upping our expectations for some early releases. My anticipation is through the roof for either outcome as it is, I’m not sure how much my fragile anxiety levels could take if he keeps doing this

Lucked out and got one this morning at the Target I have the least luck at, but I brought my boys with me and it was the closest store.
I had one of the most positive experiences I've ever had with another collector.
He got to the toy section before me and got ahold of a worker that was on her way to go in the back to get him a set. He literally ran to her before she got in the back, stopped her and asked her to bring me a set, too! Pure class!
It actually turned into a learning moment for my boys about being kind to each other.
Then I bought them candy... :D

If you see that collector again on another early morning run, buy him a coffee or breakfast. You’ll be set for life if you return that kindness. It’s always a good idea to have a collector friend who is looking out for you

One of my targets said they had 4. Then they came back and said they didn't have any. So they are probably on a pallet in the back waiting on the reset. I'll check another one later tonight if it doesn't get too late. Hopefully I can grab it when they are supposed to be on the shelf.

I called toys, electronics, and customer service at two different stores and couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone. Frustrating, to say the least. Now I have to decide if it's worth my time to drive over there.

Does Hasbro restock exclusives? I can't remember ever failing to get one in the initial pre-order window.

I should be so excited that I found a set, not to mention grateful given how many of you are still in the hunt, but this whole experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I know it’s me, because none of this is new.

Maybe it’s my advancing age, or maybe it’s just burnout after over 25 years as an “adult collector”. I don’t know.

What I do know is that I preordered a Storm Collectibles KOF 98 Kim Kaphwan from BBTS some time ago, and it arrived on Friday. There was no “go live” time and date for the preorder. There were no scalpers or bots. I didn’t even know the figure was coming out. It went up for preorder, I thought it looked cool, and I ordered one at my leisure. Within a week of the first review going up, it was at my doorstep. It was expensive at just over $100 shipped, but man…what a great figure! It was so much fun to open, pose, and try out all of the different heads, hands, and other accessories.

That’s the kind of experience I want going forward, and as I’m writing this, I’m realizing that what I’m really saying is that I’m pretty much done with mass market retail lines. The Marvel and DC licenses will always be my first love, but I don’t have the desire or the patience to put up with all the bull malarkey that comes with collecting them anymore. I just want to pay my money and get my figures the way I do with any other consumer good I purchase. I’m so over the “TicketMaster” environment we find ourselves in now. My future in the hobby lies with companies like Storms and Jada, not with companies the Hasbro, McFarlane, and Mattel.

Thanks for helping me work through that. You guys are great therapists! 🙂

If memory serves, they usually restock at least once when it comes to Target Hasbro exclusives. I seem to remember an environment very similar to this one surrounding the Storm/Thunderbird two pack several years ago where each Target in my area had one case initially and then got two more cases in a couple of weeks later.

Mine said they only got two in and both were gone before I got there this morning. That fact target didn’t put them online on release day is concerning as well.

I was one of the ones who went to Target on release day for the Storm set and had them pulled from the back. Me and 2 others were there and they only let us get 1 per person. Then they showed up everywhere a couple weeks later and eventually went on clearance.

I've never had them not pick up the phone at one of those three extensions in my area, but I do know that so many people do in-store pickups now that sometimes everyone in customer service is out shopping in the store.

Sometimes they re-stock, sometimes they don't. They did re-stock super-articulated Black Widow. I never saw them restock Storm and Thunderbird, but the initial stock was so huge they didn't need to since every store in my region got 15 to 20 of that set. That's why there were so many left over and it's still cheap on eBay now; they dramatically over-ordered that one.

Always assume they're not going to restock. Not sure how many you've gotten your region, but if I were you I'd be checking all of them by phone until I was totally sure they sold out because I'm sure yours did not sell out in the store you went to earlier. It's certainly possible they just even haven't even gotten them yet, and that's something you can ask them. They can see in their system when some are on the way.

I'll also be surprised if the set never goes up for shipping purchase on Target's web site. I suspect the only reason it's not up today is due to some sort of a data entry issue that they may eventually correct, although as I said I don't think they ever did correct that for the deluxe Phoenix figure last year.

I may try to get in contact with their online chat support to see if there's a good reason for these not to be up for purchase right now. I've always wondered if that's how these problems end up getting resolved at times when something is supposed to go up for sale on a Sunday but you don't actually see it for sale for another few days or weeks.

I think there will definitely be opportunities for those who missed out today to pick up a set, but it will require a bit of due diligence and follow up.

Phoenix was definitely orderable online. Maybe not at first, but that's where I got her.

Psylocke came out amazing! Outstanding athletic muscular sculpt. Her articulation is great, and her accessories are so much fun! Had a blast posing her fighting Darklon. I’ll put more photos in the photo thread.

Thanos has awesome colors and a great head sculpt.
