Part of me really wants to own a Miyazaki action figure, part of me thinks he would be so disappointed in me for buying one. (I love how he is so many peoples' grumpy old grandfather, metaphorically speaking. Let me live life striving to make art like he does but please let me never do anything that would make him judge the hell out of me.)

He would absolutely judge someone for having a toy of him. But if it were a toy of weary-ass, get off my lawn Miyazaki I'd still seriously consider it.

You were right and I can indeed find him on AliExpress. Is there a workaround if at checkout I'm informed the item can't ship to my region (CA, USA)?

This has been cancelled by the company making it. I ordered it from 5KToys and just got an email about the cancellation and a refund of my deposit. I'm assuming lawyers were involved, since most third party companies usually get away with something like this otherwise.
