G.I. Joe Classified Series

Alright damnit... I recently got Big Boa and an Iron Grenadier (who is called Field Marshal Null on my filecard, which was one of the possible names for General Voltar), Techno-Viper and Torpedo came today, and now I've got Leatherneck for regular price, Mindbender for a couple bucks off and Eel for a couple bucks off in the cart.... Eel and Snow Serpent were my first Cobra I ever bought myself, but I dragged my feet on water guys until now. This will blow most of my Classified budget for the year (aside from preorders already in, as well as the Night Viper), so the NF Beach Head and Quick Kick I will have to get on sale.

They could do one of those after-show shows where the actors talk about the episode and call it Much Stache. My god, we're fuckin' on to something.
If it's a talkback show, is it Must Stache You a Question?

Apparently the original DID have it too, and it's a KIA memorial thing, so you got it.
I KNEW it had to be something that specific but I couldn't find the backstory. Thanks. (Of course my Leatherneck isn't wearing his cos that bracelet is lose-able AF)

Sometimes it takes three of us to get there.

And good to know... I'm sure it'll magically get between the wall and my filing cabinet with several iron man blast effects and who knows what else.

I'm taking this approach: If I hide it away for fear of losing it, then that's really just me pre-losing it. So he's wearing it and let God do his worst, that dick.

I packed up all my toys a while ago for a whole bunch of reasons, so the only things I have out are one Mezco Conan (of three), my Kickstarter Spawns, a couple of Star Wars figures, and whatever newly-acquired Joes I have. Right now that's Night Creeper, Snow Serpent, Retro Viper, and Leatherneck. And also two of the old Viper just because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep those, so they were in the 'to go' pile and made their way back onto a shelf for now.

Gotta say, looking at them all together is making it real tough not to dig out all the rest. I think Leatherneck and Outback will look great together. Anyone have any suggestions for the colorblind guy on which other Joes match up well with Leatherneck's camo/colorscheme? Footloose? I was thinking maybe Heavy Duty, but that guy is way too expensive in CAD. Maybe Action Pilot? But again -he's expensive when you can find him here.

Also the action pilot halo guy seems like a good one to me. I tend to not match guys though so they'll stand out more.

For me it just depends on what I'm doing with that part of the display. And it's not that everyone has to perfectly match or anything. But I do kind of like the idea of displaying guys in a way that looks like they could be out on a mission together. Like , I wouldn't really want to put Snowjob with Dusty (although, I totally respect that some people do want exactly that).
I guess I'm saying I like it when a team looks like they dressed for the occasion. I keep thinking of getting that original Recondo and Dusty, just to have someone to hang with my Action Soldier.

Right now with Leatherneck, I'm thinking Outback and TF Bazooka will look good with him traipsing through a swamp looking for Croc Master.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot today because I got Footloose - I'm NOT a stickler for historically accurate camo or anything like that but I was thinking of "who is the squad you send in when you DON'T want them to be neon-green weirdos and ninjas" (all the Joes are weirdos, Footloose is absolutely a weirdo, but his outfit is pretty normal) and I came up with:
  • Leatherneck
  • Footloose
  • Rock n' Roll (retro first choice but either works)
  • Modern Gung-Ho if you don't require shirts
  • Falcon (Classic, despite the weird face, he's pretty low-key)
  • Stalker
  • And probably Outback, if you don't require proper shirts.
And then damned near any of the Night Force figures can slot in there too.

And I do put things like the bracelet on the figure if I'm actively posing them, but will tuck them away if I leave him unattended. I have cats. I have to live cautiously with small objects.

@docsilence I feel like Low-Light fits into that list as well. Being just shades of grey. And Flint.

One of the interesting things about Joe is that they look so fuckin' zany together, but if you break them down into smaller groups, you can intentionally make them look far less zany.

That's a good point. I think I tend to let Cobra get more zany, and have decided to lean into that further, but with Joes... I think Storm Shadow V.2 is my zaniest looking one. I know when Air Tight comes out, I'll have a hard time passing him up. He won't fit in at all with my zaneless approach, so he may be my tipping point there.

I think this is why I love that they so often paired Bazooka, Alpine, Shipwreck, and someone like Barbecue together in the cartoon. There is NO REASON those guys are teaming up together. They look like they just ran out of a Halloween party. But you can put like, Bazooka, Outback, and Chuckles on a squad and it's like "oh, they're off-duty or something" with the green pants, combat boots, and inappropriate shirts.

Flint and Low Light would work too - I crossed them off my own list because I was trying to keep it to exclusively those earth-tone greens and black and gray felt just off-brand enough that it helped me narrow down the list. But Lowlight doesn't even need a Night Force figure, he was born for it already. Flint's color palette fits in with NF, too, and NF feels like the most muted, least weirdo Joes squad.

Right, I never ever would have thought to pair the sailor with the ninja commando. Nor would I have thought to disguise the ninja commando as Boy George. Whoever came up with those ideas, I hope they went on to even greater heights.

Cartoon Snake Eyes is still the coolest guy on screen but he's so much less dignified than comics Snake Eyes. The way his first appearance on screen is to dive ass up to avoid being run over by Scarlett flying a Skystriker is really undignified, if funny.

Coincidentally I do often put Retro Snake Eyes with the 60th Sailors. They're the sneakiest, most-silent squad on the shelves. I like to imagine the SEALs (let's call them as they are) meet up with Snake Eyes mid-mission and are starstruck. Their eyes hold a full conversation, without a single word spoken,
"Holy shit, is that THE Snake Eyes?"
"I thought he was just a myth!"
