S.H. Figuarts Marvel Figures

I bought Cyclops from BBTS for $100, but is he he going to be available on Amiami tonight. Their listing says "On Sale Soon" July 2 at 11:00 Japan time.
 
Well, 6.1 inches vs 6.25 inches ain't enough of a difference for me to complain. I'd still love to see some of the figure tweaked though, like the colors.
 
Yep, the AmiAmi order did go up. I refreshed every 10 seconds starting at 9:59, and it went live around 5 to 10 seconds before 10 by my phone's time. By the time I completed checkout 20 to 30 seconds later the pre-orders were closed, so seems to me they sold out in under a minute.

Their price translated to USD is around $68, and with shipping it'll be around $80 to $85. Not a huge savings over the BBTS and EE prices unless I end up being able to combine shipping with other items, so I would've mostly been fine with having to order from the American companies. I was just glad they're listing him since they didn't have a page for him yesterday. I guess neither of those sites have a placeholder for items where a pre-order is coming up that doesn't let you actually pre-order to let you know they're going to have an in-demand item like this one.

Not to pick nits, but if we’re doing a 1:1, BBTS is $100+$4 shipping + TAX, which for me is 9.8%

Meaning my total is at least $113.80 at BBTS

vs $80-$85, which is between $33.80-$28.80 cheaper

I don’t mean to get in the weeds, but as a Frugal Freddie who collects imports, this is why I do jump through the hoops to buy from Nin Nin, HLJ, or HG. At the end of the year, it’s a decent amount of savings.

Which means…

More figures ;)

I at least get a free Hasbro fig for every purchase. Sometimes a NECA. YMMV though.

I've been factoring in close to $30 to ship. My last HLJ shipment about a month ago shipped for $29.19 and the figure $73.15. BBTS was selling for 109.99. About an $18 dollar difference at minimum after sales tax and $4 shipping. I usually avoid BBTS for imports because I like getting figures about 3 or 4 days after they drop in Japan, now I'm probably going to be waiting for a month by the time BBTS gets their stock.

I didn't try for Amiami because BBTS took a $10 deposit. I stepped away a few minutes before 10pm and came back 15 minutes later to see they sold out.
 
I do like this Cyke, but I don’t know if I $100 like it. I might wait for some first impressions.
 
Yeah I should say I normally ship registered airmail, if I’m only shipping one figure. It takes about 2-3 weeks. About $16, so this Cyclops would run me $83.93 total at Nin Nin vs $114 at BBTS. I only ship DHL if I’m ordering more than one figure at a time, so it breaks down to $10-13 per fig.

That said I’m holding off for now as well. I still want to see how this line looks stirred in with MAFEX and Legends. Even if the heights work, the aesthetic might be too different. It will be interesting to see how anime-eyed the unmasked characters will be. I’m also curious if we’ll ever see a SHF comics line.
 
I still go with BBTS for my imports. It does cost significantly more in some cases but if I have an import break, about six times now BBTS has always sent a replacement and don't ask you to return the broke one. I usually ask them and they laugh and say, no need.

It's good, but I'm not sure it's better enough over the Mafex that many of us need both. But Cyclops is one of my top 10 heroes so as a superfan I definitely want them both.

Really wish someone would do a real mega optic blast. I'm surprised nobody on Etsy has done one yet.

Not sure why but someone started a separate thread here for their Capcom Cyclops. And that one was MEGA-popular and insta-sold out.

They don't make a bunch of Marvel figures. Not entirely sure why, but I've assumed it's because Mafex has been eating their lunch in recent years. When they do make them they're quite nice. I have the Figuarts Venom and Carnage from the movies and they're both stellar. My son has Spider-Punk from Across the Spider-Verse and it's incredibly good. The Peter Parker and Mayday figure from Spider-Verse is cute as hell. I watched a review and it's a bit hard to work all of the accessories so I skipped it, but I may have to cave since Mayday is so cute in figure form.
