See, that’s the thing:
They may as well have been called the Genocide Stones, because with absolutely unlimited power, that’s the most creative thing either Thanos or Iron Man could think of to do with them.
Lame, assumptively cruel, and frankly: boring.
 
Someone asked Brolin on the press tour why Thanos didn't double resources instead and he answered that it's not something that would ever occur to Thanos. Ultimately, he disguises his horrible agenda with something that sounds like a good thing
 
I suppose you could argue as well that, with the same amount of people and twice the resources, fighting would break out on who had rights to what. People would inevitably grow combative over it, deny it to others, etc., so nothing would be learned from it, whereas taking away things makes people more appreciative of what's left (people and things)
 
What does doubling resources actually look like? Forests get bigger and there's now twice as many pigs? When you double the amount of coal, does the planet get bigger or does it replace dirt? Do you just double fresh water and flood river valleys, or are you doubling all water and flooding the planet?

No, I think the actual flaw in Thanos' plan is that it takes about 50 years for Earth's population to double. The universe will have undone his work within a single human lifetime.

Another good point. Are we talking instantaneous? Trees sprouting out where houses sit? I doubt all these yummy edible animals are coming pre-cooked, either, so are there twice as many pigs and birds and such running around? Would that mean twice as many bugs too? Blech. Or is it like when they bring everyone back, and they can apparently make sure everyone returns safely? Can he pick and choose which resources to double, or is it an all-or-nothing kind of thing?

I don't blame anyone for thinking/feeling either way (I admittedly haven't thought much about Thanos' plan- thinking makes my head hurt), but I like that there are enough points on either side that you can't say beyond a shadow of a doubt if what he did was right or not (objectively, not morally). That being said- it's not fool-proof. I'm sure there'll be a point, whether 100 years in the future or 10,000 years, where they're right back to where they started with overpopulation and such, but it buys them time, and maybe- juuuust maybe they'll learn their lesson and keep things under control. If anything, Thanos' actions give life (as a whole) a chance- it's up to them from there to decide what to do with it.
 
I mean, it's the Infinity Stones. If he can snap half the galactic population into dust, he can snap stockpiles of nonperishable food on all those planets, too. And hell, he's got the Time Stone. First plan didn't work? Rewind and try again. I think my beef is Thanos has infinite power on his paw and took an easy, barbaric, and unsustainable way out. Snap double the green planets into existence.

Although that's kind of the tale as old as time - give any one person infinite power, they're gonna fuck it up. (And of course isn't the idea of splitting up the stones to make sure nobody has the option to make that big a mistake?)

Anyway, I just think Thanos is a bit of a lunkhead and I like death cultist Thanos better because it's both easier to say his decision is bad but his motivation is clear. He's impressing his girlfriend.
 
TVLine just reported that Disney+/Marvel have stopped the Assembled Making Of docs and that news really bums me out. Those were so nice and provided so much insight and behind the scenes shots and info. I hadn't noticed there wasn't one for BNW because I haven't tried to watch BNW but if this is true that's a real shame. I loved those docs.
 
They finally did a new Marvel Legends episode though.

And Thunderbolts is the first Marvel bluray I'll buy since No Way Home.

Despite the 'sky is falling' narrative about it being the worst-performing MCU film, or whatever, everyone actually talking about it in terms of content and story have been very positive. And it looks super fun. Which is what I want. Just.. like.. fun movies. That are fun to watch. For fun. Because my hobbies, like watching superhero movies, should be ..... wait for it....

..... keep waiting....
