Forum Feedback

It’s on the laptop and my wife is using it for school. I’m using the iPhone to check out the new site. I almost never used my phone to access the Fwoosh. So many popups and ads made it impossible to navigate. The fact that I can use my phone here is just awesome 😎

Yeah I was excited because this new forum was Tapatalk compatible but I like the mobile version of the forum so much that I've been only using Tapatalk for posting images.

Regardless, Is there a plan for advertising the new forum? Fwoosh seems to be... half-down currently, or at least it seems the forums are gone.

I can't speak for what his current plan is but I know he said at the beginning that he wanted to make sure this place was stable and not a ghost town before he started any real advertisement. A few of us have been popping in on the Fwoosh when it was up and tagging some people in messages and telling them about this place. I've seen quite a few of them make their way over here today.

Good question.

I wanted to "finish" this place before I started advertising. Color scheme, temporary logo, Tapatalk support, etc. We're basically there.

I have some small changes to make yet (mainly around the "Home" button—I won't bore you with the details), but I'm officially ready to show the forum off. This week, I'll do some very amateur graphic design and share it on Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit.

I started messaging my Instagram mutuals yesterday. I think Instagram flagged my account for spam because only about four of the 20 messages went through. This is where I need your help. If you know any former Fwooshers or cool collectors who haven't joined yet, shoot them a message. If you're part of a Facebook group, let them know we're here. There's no better advertising than word of mouth.

I don't believe I'm insta mutuals with any former Fwooshers (outside someone I knew prior), but I'll see about spreading the word in general!

I just found out about this thanks to a post on reddit. Thank you guys for building these forums back up. I've roamed the fwoosh forums for like 10 years now and it really hurt seeing them dying. I'm glad to be here.

I did change the style back to default, instead of green it's blue, and that feels more... you know, familiar and comforting. The dark theme is great though!

Maybe it would be cool if we could individually customize the colors of the site to our liking. I don't know if it's even possible, but it would be fun.

I would love to write figure articles in the future! Maybe taking a deep look into certain figures that I feel have been looked over in the past and such.

That was me! Glad you made it. r/Fwoosh is weird in that it doesn't seem to allow new posts, or at least it didn't for me. Thankfully I was able to reply to that last post there were people were asking about it.

That I can't do. VBulletin, the other platform I was looking at, had 10 or 15 different colors to choose from. In XenForo, I'd have to build them all from scratch and add them to the dropdown menu. Between that and the branding considerations, I'm going to stick with what I have. VBulletin had a Halloween theme that I'm thinking about ripping off for one day a year, though. I love me some Halloween.

PM me about your articles when you're ready.

After finding out about the Halloween theme I will be very disappointed if you don't use it at LEAST the week of Halloween, if not the whole month of October.

So it looks like the Fwoosh is back? Definitely feels like something's changed there and everything works much better today.
Still can't PM or trade on the Fwoosh, despite us repeatedly asking.

Plus we all know it'll be back down in a few days.

The forum software Robo chose is the second-worst I've used in 25 years. Not as bad as Reddit, but it's pretty bad. I mean...I totally get why he chose it and both appreciate and respect his efforts to keep it going, but the software is objectively terrible.

If they were migrating to a more stable platform and they're done now then we have two sides of a coin here--much of the same community in two places with one being much better than the other. We'll see how it shakes out, I guess.
