Selling Toys - Horror Stories & "Happy" Customers

Been trying to move my Mafex Cap (he just feels eh to me) at 80 Canuck. A lot of window shoppers and tire kickers for 2 months.

On a whim I jacked him up to 150.

Sold within the hour.

Alright.

Is 80 fairly below market? Maybe they thought you had a bootleg or something lol I've had that happen, where I price something super low just to be rid of it and it just sits forever.

Iron Man was picked up at the post office yesterday. It arrived in the same box I sent it in, except now it has a giant foot-sized hole in the side and you can see the artbox inside. The box also felt much too light so I definitely made an unboxing video to be safe...the entire accessory tray that is supposed to slide up under the Styrofoam figure mold is missing :ROFLMAO: So I have the figure and hands, but now I'm out the second set of battle damaged armor, the original batteries, screwdriver, and display base. If I resell, I'll have to mark it way low because it's missing half of its contents.

Tomorrow is the last day of the "case on hold". I'm assuming the system will auto-side with him and I'll have to call a 3rd time, but I got my popcorn ready to go.

Surely that has to be ammo to volley back against him.

Might be the case.
All the Mezco One:12 figures I was selling over the weekend were under the going eBay rates, and I even had 1 guy tell me I had amazing prices, yet I only sold 5 of the 23 I brought with me. The majority of them still have the outer clear plastic that came with all the older figures (not in the tins). Guess they'll just go online and I'll have to deal with shipping.

I tend to price higher end things around my floor to remove the negotiation game. Partly because it feels a like there's a window for that game to even occur, and if you price things slightly too high they won't even attempt. I ran into that a lot with Mezco where I was just trying to price them to move and be friendly. But I guess if it's too low, it also doesn't work for them.

I might be interested in this. It's complete and everything is in mint condition including the shipping box, right?

Figure was $70 retail. I have the receipt.

Selling it for $80. It's long gone.

Guy asks if I'm flexible on pricing.

" What are you thinking?"

"I don't know, I don't know what it cost in Canada but it was cheaper in the United States."

Motherfucker.

So yes, despite being told by TWO different customer service reps that my description was accurate and that "I have nothing to worry about, ebay has my back"...they sided with the other guy and issued a refund. I called customer service, who told me they could escalate it as an appeal...interestingly. she said she cannot see the previous interactions I've had with customer service, even though the guy I talked to the second time could that I had called a first time. So I don't know what's up there.

About 20 minutes later I received an email from ebay telling me I can't appeal because they "already re-evaluated it and determined the buyer was correct." :ROFLMAO: So apparently, fuck me and my half of a Hot Toy while I also dish out the full cost plus shipping plus fees because some asshole didn't look at the photos. I have sent a last ditch email into the void explaining the issue with the returned figure and that I have proof if they can tell me how to get it to them.

Ultimately, I'm out $300 that I don't have lol So I guess this teaches me 2 things:

1. Don't spend any funds received from an ebay sale until after their little return window, because apparently buyers can just change their minds and fuck you.

2. Just don't sell on ebay ever again and avoid the hassle.

I think I will go with option 2.

That is some serious bullshit, but... ebay does enjoy fucking people. I have had them side with me twice, and both times were a buyer saying they never got it but the tracking said they did (which sucks for them if the Post Office dropped it at a neighbor and still marked it as delivered), but yeah... any time a buyer wants to return something for any reason, I'm gonna be out that money.

You're gonna have to call Ebay again. Don't give in to their idiocy and lies TO YOU, who is also their customer.

At the very least, if they made the buyer who caused the problem whole - and who has now STOLEN FROM YOU - demand they also make you whole at the very least. Don't give up or give in!
