G.I. Joe Classified Series

In the Classified lull, I saw that Torch went back in stock at BBTS so I ordered that second set of the O3 Dreadnoks I’ve been hankering for. These figures are among my favorites in the entire line.

I've got a BIZARRELY quiet Saturday tomorrow and I kinda want to do some crazy Joes mashup photos. Do I have the Dragonfly square off with Galactus? The HISS tank get attacked by a Mythic Legions troll? What I really need to do is commit to a NECA predator and have him stalk Beachhead, or some 1/12 scale raptors to hunt and be hunted by Recondo.
If you don't have Mindbender having a tea party with My Little Ponies, you have failed.

In the Classified lull
Yeah, I got another Cobra Infantry Trooper and Cobra Officer to switch their gear out for the retro trooper. The lighter color blue is what always prevented me from getting the retro guy, I knew it would bother me, so I decided to make a retro guy who would match (I added the Officer head as well), and a Viper Pilot (which is basically the Officer with the retro gear). THEN... I figured I'd need another Valkyrie too. THEN the Stinger went on sale on Amazon so I thought I'd take a risk and see if I can sell the vehicle off. AND NOW we have a stream coming with more preorders, so my timing isn't great.

I don't have ponies or a 1/12 inch scale tea set, but I do have a tiny coffee mug that says CEO on the side that I often post Cobra Commander (or Tony Stark, TBF) with. It's actually kind of alarming how many characters are appropriate holding that mug.

Just had a bit of a Christmas morning moment - I got notification that the retro Viper is showing up today from Pulse but then a box arrived from Fedex that was too heavy to be a solo figure. Rock n' Roll and Mindbender early and without shipping notification!

Cracked them open immediately because apparently I'm thirsty for Classifieds, and also I was messing around with my other Mindbender yesterday and extra irritated with his stuck joints (can see the pressure marks in the dropdown hips) and noticing some odd paint flubs, smudging from his cape onto his arms... just sort of generally annoyed with him in general. Retro version: aside from a bit of a tight torso twist, perfectly smooth joints. Better, more vibrant paint. Just an improvement overall from the original. So psyched to have this ridiculous figure.

Rock 'n Roll - once again, Classified made a retro version of a figure the modern version of which I already loved and somehow made me like this one better. I thought the previous RnR was pretty damned perfect, but this equally good in my mind, but better. I see the guy-liner everyone's talking about, but it doesn't bother me. I haven't done a side by side comparison, but he feels a little bigger than the other one that leans into his bio saying he was a weight lifter before enlisting, but what I like the most is he looks OLDER than the other one. In my head canon for my collection, there's two timelines happening, and there are a lotta characters who have older versions around who have *seen some shit.* Duke, Scarlet, RnR, soon to be Flint, they all have a look that tells me they've had at least ten years of stuff they've seen the other version hasn't. (I kinda wish Stalker had this too but I think both versions of him look about the same age, but I can wing it, in any event... and I don't think Cover Girl retro will look older than the modern, the reverse, in fact, but that's not a problem for this particular head canon).

Anyway, taking a victory lap for a non-f*cked-up Mindbender figure and now I'm waiting for the USPS truck that has the Viper on it. Got my Classifieds fix for the month, hehehe.

Yeah, I wouldn't have minded one Stalker looking younger, but not the end of the world.

So now it seems there's some confusion about whether the next wave will have both Flash and Sci Fi, or just one or the other? I guess we find out in a few days though.

I don't have words for how awesome this is ... It's like they stole it from my dreams.

Once again Gridiron has done great work. This thing is a beauty.

Also I can't believe this is $400US. I'm so used to Gridiron being pretty expensive. However this feels about right at $400US. It looks about 1/3 longer than the HISS and it is wide enough to hold figures in the back across from each other with space in between. This should be a monster of a vehicle for 1/12 scale.

Maybe the Classified team can get some ideas on what they could do for a Joe APC and keep it in a somewhat reasonable price range.

Yeah, I gotta say this looks every bit worth $400 considering it's a small outfit manufacturing it and they put a lot of thought and effort into it. And it's pretty hefty — it's 23 inches long and 11 inches wide. I'd rather have a troop-transporting APC than a tank any day of the week, and I like I said, they just nailed the look of it.

I've almost made up my mind that I'm going to pick one up. It's mainly the size of it holding me back at this point.

Yeah thinking $400US isn't expensive (relatively) is a bit funny. I guess that is where I'm at now in this hobby that something like this garners that kind of reaction from me.

Now that said I do have a number of expensive items in my collection (Haslabs, both Hot Toys Hulkbusters, etc). So I guess it is all relative.

Still not getting this, but I'll appreciate it from afar.
