Harvinger Studios, Savage Crucible

Elric I would assume the swords and portraits. I mean the helmet, shins, and belt are probably the exclusive to Death Dealer figure parts. Those are very recognizable from the paintings. But, y'know, those are assumptions. But then again (swervin' ya like I'm Russo,) they do work very closely with the Frazetta Museum and tease the are doing more Frazetta figures so they have a working relationship which may allow them to reuse everything but Death Dealer's helmet.

Yeah I definitely think their close relationship with Frankie and the Frazetta museum indicates that their licensing agreement with them would be very permissive when it comes to reuse. I think he's been in more livestreams than some of their actual staff... Most Frazetta designs are relatively generic anyway but I agree with you about which parts of DD's armour seem too unique for reuse. I'd expect a lot of the Kubla Khan parts to pop up in other figures down the line.

They had a toy from a partnership they did of an angel knight with full wings. Savage Crucible will not be soliciting that the other company will, and I did not get the name, but he has a freakin' huge scythe.
I believe what I was referring to here was the Almighty Legends Azrael figure. I'm not 100 percent on this but I'm pretty sure.

Oh that is interesting if they were involved with the design/production
It's more that the Almighty Legends project was falling apart because no one involved in it really has a solid idea of what they're doing, and Harvinger basically came in and saved their project by letting them use the SC base bodies for their figures. Definitely, to my understanding, not a collaborative effort. AL literally got pulled out of a dumb fire of their own making by Harvinger's kindness and foresight (because now their brand is even more important as it's fully compatible with a whole other toyline).

That kickstarter was a dumpster fire, they needed to unlock all their stretch goals to get over the finish line, then later on said they hadn't met the minimum order quantities to produce the extra figures so would be replacing people's orders of them with duplicates of the Azrael and Gabriel which would be the only ones produced initially.

Dumpster fire is being kind.

I remember mentioning how doomed to failure that was when it dropped. The designs are fucking terrible (why are all of these badass angel dudes wearing sexy little tube tops?). There never seemed to be an actual achievable goal in the campaign - it was just a wild set of 'wouldn't it be cool if we did this?' kind of stuff. Like you said - unlocking everything to get people to add more money for those items and then pulling all of those items after everyone had given them the money is LITERALLY a bait-and-switch. Fairly disgusting behaviour, if I'm being honest.

If Harvinger hadn't stepped in and saved their entire project, no one who put money in would be getting a single thing and I get the distinct impression that these guys wouldn't give two shits about the customers that lost out. Not saying it's true - just saying it's the impression I get from how they've gone about their business so far.

Also, let me just say, based on the response then and now to the product; the ONLY thing that is going to keep this line from being a one-and-done failure is that it's basically giant accessory sets for Savage Crucible now. Even if you don't give a shit about this line, it'll have all kinds of fun parts to plug into your much more beloved and popular line of figures. If it had to stand on its own, this line would go nowhere even if they did manage to produce the first two figures.

Hmm. I was not aware of any of that. It looked nice, but it's hard for me to support those types of business practices even through a "Savage Crucible Accessory package" way. You give questionable business practices a taste of success and they'll learn no lessons. Every dollar does count, and they will not count mine toward that.

Damn, it's high up here on this soapbox. Anybody have a ladder?

Lol

To be ENTIRELY fair; I'm not convinced this was malicious. The fact that they did a bait-and-switch doesn't mean they SET OUT to do a bait-and-switch. My argument is more that they are not very smart and very very bad at this 'making toys' thing. I believe they unlocked all the stretch goals because they figured that the added funding would mean they -COULD- make everything. When that turned out to not be true, they either had to cancel the entire thing (and since they can't refund everyone, their rep would be destroyed forever, in all likelihood) or scale back and say 'we can't make all the things we said, so here's extras of the shit no one wanted enough to fund this to begin with.'

Now... aaaaaaagain... that is definitely still a bait-and-switch and it's still fairly despicable practices. I just think that intent does still matter and I don't believe they set out with the intention of deceiving anyone or stealing anyone's money or anything like that. I think they're just inept. For whatever that is worth.

And this is coming from me... the king of 'fuck this company because these people are scumbags - please don't buy anything from them.'

Okay. But I'm still avoiding them until I hear enough positives to make me weigh the option again. But I'll keep an open mind.
I have no dog in that fight anyway, so whatever makes you happy is the direction you should go. I only wanted to clarify my position in case it was coming off that I was directly calling them scam artists or something like that, which is just not what I believe to be the case.
