NECA Archie Comics Line

There's a lot I'd want, Ninjara would be tops, and Dragon Warrior as well. Armaggon.

I guess it depends on your definition of "big." There's still April (which they teased), Splinter, Bebop, and Rocksteady. Then there's a bunch of book specific monsters and aliens. There's definitely still plenty of life left in the line if they want to keep it going past 2026. I'll personally be bummed if we never get standard turtles. The rest is gravy.

Leatherhead looks great, but it would be nice to be able to get Wingnut and Screwloose. Has anyone else based outside the US been able to get that set?

After watching a few walkthroughs I've noticed that Trevor made sure to point out that Leatherhead is the first ultimate for the Archie line so he'll be packaged differently and probably more expensive. He's also said in all of the interviews I've seen that Leatherhead completes the Mutanimals so that's probably an indication that Ninjara is not in the plans.

Well, everyone that I've spoken with is telling me different things out of the NECA booth regarding the license.

Some are saying they aren't talking about what's going on with the license.

Some are saying that they were told more news later.

Some are saying things are fine.

I don't know, man. Pretty paltry showing, if you ask me. I guess SDCC and NYCC will be the true tests on whether there is a future with NECA and TMNT for 2027 or beyond.

Also kind of feels like they're trying to ease out of it and fill that void with other properties that tickle that nostalgia bone--Disney, Muppets, Sesame Street, McDonald's...

I know he made sure to mention that he comes with more accessories too. I welcome anything like that in this line.

Ninjara was never on the Mutanimals, so maybe there’s still a chance.

It's probably a case of nobody knows for sure, but I would guess there are many opinions at NECA. Even if Mattel isn't much of an obstacle, it's still likely their license is up too and everyone wants more money.

Yeah, no Ninjara would be the biggest miss of the Archie line given how major a character she was. The OT stuff isn't ideal but can be (sorta) used for basic turtles, Bebop, Rocksteady, even Splinter if the line ends early but Ninjara would leave a massive void.

I agree with @RicksNerdLife though, even if Mattel isn't an issue, it feels like they're pivoting away from TMNT based on their Toy Fair showing this year and have new licenses to fill the gap. I get that they've done a LOT so it makes sense but hopefully the key stuff still gets done before the lines do end (whether that's because of Mattel or just sales dwindling because everyone has what they want).

I think they've been in search of "the next TMNT" for a few years now, but nothing has really come close. It's never a good idea to have a lot of your company's success tied to one brand, especially if it's one you don't control. I also wouldn't be shocked if there's some internal resentment towards TMNT. NECA, who made its name mostly with horror, is now the "turtle company" while the fanbase was so out of control at one point that it doxxed Randy. They still like making money so I doubt they're looking to exit TMNT, but I'm sure they'd love for something else to usurp it in the company hierarchy. The brand is also pretty over saturated at this point and that is likely reflected in the sales. It's not as hot as it once was and likely never will be and that's going to be reflected in the output.

NECA shipped the pizza Garfield to me. Looks like it’ll come Wednesday.

Mine should be here tomorrow, as long as the Post Office doesn't send it off on to an entirely different state like I had a package I sent for the holidays did.

Mine is actually at my city’s post office, so maybe it will come tomorrow.
