G.I. Joe Classified - News & Updates

I don’t like neon stuff in the Joe line. But I like plenty of other stuff which happened during that era or after it. insulting people who just don’t like the same exact stuff you do is so…well, immature. Certainly a shocking thing to happen while discussing toys.

Legacy Delta force looks cool. Like the skull face.

Sundown as well.

Cobra dinosaur wrangler also looks neat. not a huge fan of the dinosaur deco. maybe it’ll get some repaints. But the concept is fun. And being able to have a new named character or troop builders from the same box is fantastic.

Never been a fan of the Night Creepers. i like the idea of DIRE theme continuing but reusing that Cthulu head is lame. A new DIRE head would have tempted me to get this figure.

Zanya looks good but not really a fan of the Chameleon. looks uncomfortable to ride.

I really like the red and black Flight Pod. will pair nicely with the HISS, Stinger, and HMS.

I dont mind the Snake-Eyes repaint. I like getting SE which are not all black. But the Ferret in Joe colors…again? Before the original Cobra one is offered up again. They should at least alternate between Joe and Cobra versions and change up the weapon loadout.

Packing the ATV and Flight Pod all in one box is kinda insane. too much sticker shock to troop build. I wouldn’t mind getting a couple or crimson flight pods but the cost…uhh.
 
Anyone saying today's reveal "jumped the shark" I have to assume would've thought GI Joe "jumped the shark" in like, 1985 or something, too. This line has, aside from the O13, been absolutely known for putting normal army men alongside coke-fueled night terror combinations of color, sci-fi, leaps of physics and logic, and common sense.

I get that we all have preferences, and CLEARLY today was not what you'd call a single theme of reveals, but a day like today - with a literal green army man alongside a tentacle face and a dinosaur but also next to really a perfect recreation of one of the early kinda boring but still beloved classic characters? This IS GI Joe, in all it's many components. This isn't jumping the shark, this is the something-for-everyone vibe it's had for decades. It's why I love this stupid line. Because it's my kind of stupid and it makes me so happy.

Roadblock on an armored triceratops in 2027 or we riot, right?

Huh, yeah something does feel kinda UK about it. I can't make out the arm patches, but I don't see any US flags.

Friend, I just yelled TAKE MY MONEY when I saw this post. Like, out of my vocal chords. Give it laser beams, but make the guns optional / removable.

Okay now that a few of you have suggested the special forces guy might be British instead of American that's probably what I'll use him for. I've been wanting to expand my fake-head-canon-international-support-team roster but haven't put a lot of energy into building it out, but Big Ben needs a sidekick.

I'm really psyched for almost all of this stuff today but I'm so boring - I really just want Airtight and Zanya TOMORROW. I'm in for a lot of the reveals but I'll patiently wait six or nine months for them to ship, but I've been waiting on those two since Wave 2, I'm greedy. Also sliiiiighly impatient to finish the Marauders team. Mercer has never left my desk, but he needs his teammates.

That's exactly it. It's just a small collection of worthless little losers that think G.I. Joe should only have like 23 characters and get mad when anything else exists. They slowly seethe and make snide comments whenever stuff from 'the era they don't like' crops up, but they tolerate it as long as the release pattern still seems to favor their preference. As soon as that isn't the case, they freak the fuck out and ring the bell that signals the end of times.

It's as predictable as it is fucking dumb. It's the Joe collectors that only want pre-90s figures. It's the Marvel collectors that only want classic '70s Avengers and Outback era X-Men. It's the DC collectors that only want JLA characters. It's the MOTU collectors that cry if you release ANYTHING before finishing the original 8-back characters. It's the Star Wars collectors that pitch a little whiny shit-fit when this year's releases focus on new media and not entire waves of OT characters.

It's NOT people with a preference. Let's be clear about that. It's not 'I would have preferred this' or 'I actually only collect that.' It's people that literally do not want anything that ISN'T the thing they like to -even exist-, and they will act like the existence of those things they don't like is a harbinger of doom for the entire brand. It's always 'this is how the original lined died' or 'this is why everyone stopped buying comics' or some other entirely unscientific, entirely inaccurate fuckwit screed designed to discredit whatever they don't like.

They're losers. Best to ignore them. The funny part is, half of them will buy all the stuff they say they hate, because they can't even stop themselves. They have nothing else.

British forces have green (in color) berets, but they're kelly green, not OD Green. Plus most UK forces wear the larger "salad bowl" helmets. Like I said with the "tacticool" RPG, I think it started as an American Green Beret inspired figure that then became Yo Joe Potpourri. The closest UK look to this figure would be British SAS as they sometimes use American style helmets, though the helmet padding on this figure appears to be sculpted on the outside of the helmet for some reason.

Easiest to just say it's a Ukrainian that was given everyone's hand-me-downs.
 
I mean, let them have less joy in their lives. I feel so weird being like, I mean I love, love love love, what Classified has done with the O13 they are just joy made manifest for me and my old Larry Hama Marvel comics loving heart, but also give me that fucking dinosaur right now, too. What's the meme everyone is using now? "Oh no, my steak is too juicy, my lobster is too buttery?" "Oh no, my O13 remakes are too beautiful, my 90s Joes remakes too sexy!" :D
