NECA - General Thread

Oooo! Sexy.
So, if I understand correctly, that is a preorder for a reissued 40th anniversary Big Chap from 2019, due out this June? The one I have definitely predates that by a good margin and definitely did not come with the egg, face hugger, and baby alien.
For anyone who already owns it, is it an improvement in quality over the version I have with the gummy knees and loose ankles??

I believe the Ultimate Xenomorph XX121 from Romulus that came out a year-ish ago is a new, reworked version of Big Chap. I don't have it, nor am I one of those sticklers for accuracy when it comes to the Xenos, so I can't say how "accurate" it is to the OG movie, or if the design was reworked at all for Romulus. But if you're looking for a newer version of Big Chap with an updated sculpt, modern day articulation, etc., that's the one to go for. Just doesn't come with the egg, and the Facehugger is the Romulus version, if that matters.

Or, yes, they're re-releasing the original Big Chap figure as-is (though, I assume with the modern, more sturdy plastic) later this year.

I was seriously checking out that Romulus xenomorph. It is pretty classic looking. however, I am slightly distracted by its secondary pharyngeal jaw; it seem a bit small and skinny. Still, very sexy though.

So you should be able to find the classic Big Chap Ultimate at stores right now. Target has been getting reissues as early as a month or two around here. It sells pretty quick, though, so obviously it'll vary from store to store on if you see it.

The Romulus "Big Chap" is apparently based on some cut material, and is basically the Big Chap but no human inside. So it's MUCH thinner and more "alien" with some of the proportions. If you don't want the creature from the first movie? It's a fucking awesome figure. Sincerely, it's really, really good. But if you want a more accurate Big Chap, then yeah, aim for that Ultimate figure.

Got the 4 Sakai turtles despite telling myself I wouldn't but they really are enjoyable in this style. I wouldn't mind if they came out with more hands and facial expressions though as Donnie's are a bit bland, but still a decent animated set overall. Not looking to collect any other Sakai styles TMNT figures though as I'm content to jump ship with just these 4.

Thanks for all the feedback on the xenomorph situation, articulated thinkers!!
I decided to pull the trigger on an Alien Romulus Xenomorph XX121. I scored him on ebay for 39.99 shipped! From what I understand, that's a pretty solid deal.
I'm jazzed-up to get him and finally retire this antiquated, decapitated relic.
Thanks again!!

I really enjoy that figure. No upright xeno will ever be the most stable figure on its feet, with how spindly they are, but I really like talking the original design & running it through the filter of not needing to leave room for a guy in the suit.

I too prefer the lankier, more spindly frame for my xenomorphs. The one I have that broke is also hella spindly ...and obviously unstable.
In fact I finally figured out which NECA xenomorph version I have: it's the original Alien figure released way back in 2008.

2008...

Fuck I'm old.

That soldier had a good tour of duty.

My favorite Neca Alien was this one - but there's been so many versions over the years I cant remember exactly which one it was. It was back when they were released in clamshell packaging, and I had bought like 20 of them (which is absolutely ridiculous). I had a cool display going for a bit that you can see a section of here. I still collect some Neca Aliens/Predators, but honestly I've settled on the mezco big chap for my display nowadays. His overall look and silhouette just screm big chap the most to me out of all the "under 1/6 scale" versions of him.

You made the right choice. Way better than the Ultimate Big Chap.
